    Well said, above all, the things that players have most control over are weight and fitness. Skill and ability are another kettle of fish altogether.

    Why you wouldn't want to be at the top of your fitness, and give yourself the best chance of succeeding, in what is a short career in football, in relative terms, is beyond me.
