    eL Week One

    http://www.paddypower.com/bet?action...s_id=49&id=289

Think I'll go for Sporting Fingal at a tasty 9/5. The prices on the Shels game look right to me, though was hoping for a tad more on Shels tbh. So my first bet on the eL season will be on Sporting winning their first ever game. Although both Longford and Sporting have assembled completely new squads, I think the away side will edge this one out 2-1. They have more experienced players and should get past the home side who will see this season as a period of transition.

Derry and Fingal look great value to me. Think I'll throw them into a double.

Gary Dempsey (St Pat's) at 22/1 for 1st goalscorer with Boyles is a decent bet. Same bet is only 10/1 with Powers (yet he's 7/1 to score at any time with Boyles). This guy's a gem and will score goals this season.

Gavin Whelan at 18/1 Boyles (16 PP) or 6/1 anytime (Boyles) is bound to notch a few for Bray along the way too... though maybe not in Turners Cross first time out.

Always remember with 1st goal bets it's your money back if the player doesn't play or comes on after 1st goal and own goals don't count so don't rip your docket if the first one's an OG... and for the same reason always write down "No Goalscorer" instead of 0-0 (same price) just on the off chance a game is decided by one.

Nice spot, is he a center mid? Would he be expected to start?

    Good call Dick,
Dempsey was a class act when at Waterford previously and weighed in with a few goals. Of all the signings this season I think he could prove to be the best.

Think I'll back Boco to score 2 or more alright, something small on it maybe.

Might be right, but so far he's playing a defensive midfield role. Can't see how PP can have Fahey 22/1 when Fahey takes free kicks, and if O'Neill goes off will take penalties

Gary scored a good few goals with Waterford the year he was there, at least 10, but has only averaged around 2/3 a season since leaving them. I remember he scored a cracker on his debut for Dunfermline against Celtic. Can't see him being 1st goalscorer too often but 22/1 is probably a bit generous.

Apologies to JC, its ladbrokes that are offering these ridiculous odds.

    Evens this weekend

Yeah couldn't believe that result myself, who'd have thought LTFC had the nerve to rack up 5 goals in one game.
