Not much as far as I know. It isn't a paper that would be widely bought by the unionist population, so maybe Mr Parker would be able to tell you better.

So would I be right in saying it covers mainly GAA, and soccer?

Actually gives very good and in-depth coverage of all the Ireland international games & always has a good build up, minus the tabloid junk you get in other papers.

Some great background & analysis from Brendan Crossan when Trap was announced.

Big enough story to have trap holding the Ireland flag on the front page, the day following the announcement of his appointment.

But yeah, there's loads fo GAA.

They also stuck the knife into the IFA and twisted it a few times over the Darron Gibson appeal
Some good articles on that topic by Kenny Archer who I think was the only journalist to get most of the facts spot on.
They report on the IL and have local league soccer news reports of the type that you wouldn't get in the Indo or the IT.
And of course you are never short of GAA news there.

For me their coverage of the IL is sh**e they usually have a short report on the Cliftonville match and a little bit on DC on a Monday burried under pages of GAA stuff, apart from that its all Premership SPL coverage. Unfortunately its the only Northern paper I can get down here so Its the best I can get.

Best of the lot would be the Newsletter, available in Easons, O'Connell Street. Good overall paper, with little to no BigotBall (GAA for the unenlightened) coverage.

The Belfast Telegraph is the best for IL coverage IMHO. I'm sure thats available in Dublin if they sell the Newsletter there!

The Newsletter is to Unionists what the Irish News is to Nationalists.. so the chances of GAA being in the Newsletter are slim, if not non existant. I'm lead to believe that the Irish News is very lazy when it comes to covering local football, and I know the Cliftonville lads and lasses aren't exactly over the moon with them.

The Belfast Telegraph probably has the best over all (Irelands Saturday Night and the Sunday Life are Belfast Telegraph papers for the weekend).

The Newsletter had as policy no coverage of Ulster GAA and AFAIAA they have stated recent enough that they are changing their stance and hiring some journalists to cover the GAA scene.

The Irish News is my morning paper of choice.

As geysir alluded to earlier, Kenny Archer displays a fair insight into the bigger picture.

A sports journalist that I disagree with often, but always respect.

They also give excellent coverage to the local amateur game on a Wednesday.

Not great coverage of the IL tho, to be honest - although, they have got quite interested in Cliftonville's fortunes this year.
The Englishmen came over in the year 2005
But little did they know that we'd planned a wee surprise
Sir David scored the winner, and Windsor Park went wild
And this is what we sang...

The Sunday Life gives very good coverage of Saturday's action, better than anything you'd see in the Republic about the eL.

It (The Sunday Life) has had a fair oul dolop of English/Scottish football this last while, but hopefully this will be taken back a bit, with local football/sports getting the majority coverage again.
The News Letter (see, I read the posts ), I vaguely remember were going to start covering all Northern Ireland based teams, including GAA.. which is fair enough imo, and something I would be interesting in reading about.

"The Graveyard Gazette" is what most Nationalists refer to when the Iirsh News is mentioned due to that being the main reason why many used to buy it. The same title is apt when it comes to their coverage of the IL. The "sudden" interest in Cliftonville this season mirrors our fortunes as does their coverage of Derry City and Donegal Celtic.

Not exactly "reaching out" beyond the nationalist community in their choice of teams to focus their coverage on!

The News Letter at one point was going to be a victim of a take over by the Andersons Town News, which would have most likely destroyed the paper as nationalists probably wouldn't buy it because of the Unionist tradition and Unionists wouldn't buy it because it was bought over by an IRA rag.
