Monaghan United take on Dundalk FC at Oriel Park for the 2nd time in two weeks in the FAI eircom League of Ireland League Cup on Tuesday night. This will be a tough task for Mick Cooke’s men following their defeat at the Dundalk venue in the 2nd game of the 2008 season. United lost on that occasion and Cooke will have to battle to try and turn the tables if he wishes to proceed in the Cup competition.

United should be feeling a little more confident following their important win over Shelbourne on Friday night last when they put on a much stronger performance than when they last visited Oriel. John Gill’s side will be feeling even more self assured following their 2-1 win over Longford Town at the weekend and they are now sitting on top of the table.

Mick has to plan without Kevin Williamson (chest infection) and James Hand (calf strain) who are both doubtfuls for the game. Other than that Cooke has a full squad to choose from.

“Going to Oriel is always a tough task for us and Gill has proven this season already that they are promotion contenders so Tuesday’s game will be a challenge” Mick Cooke stated. “I was boosted by the team’s performance on Friday but they will have to lift their game even more if we are to move into the next round of the cup. We had a good result against Shelbourne so hopefully we can redeem ourselves further in Oriel Park”
