correct me if i'm wrong but for the past number of seasons City have started really well before going through their bad patch around Xmas - if that's the case this year then.......

Cork City have lost their first two games and they look alarmingly short of creativity, but midfielder Mark Herrick is adamant that the Leesiders will turn things around.
City began the season with a disastrous 4-1 loss in Longford, which was followed by a 1-0 defeat at home to Bohs on Sunday. After going unbeaten for so long at the end of last season, it was not what City expected so early in this campaign.
"We were confident that we could have a real crack at the title this year but if has been a poor start - particularly after the way we finished last season," Herrick told Mick Conroy of the Irish Sun.
"We went 12 matches unbeaten, but there is enough ability in the squad to recover and time is on our side to make an impact at the right end of the table."
The former Galway United player said that Cork gave Bohs a very good game on Sunday. "We caused them all sorts of problems but in fairness they sorted it out at half-time and started to dictate the game," he said.
Next up for City is a trip to Bray on Friday. "We have to take something from that match. We cannot afford to give teams like Bohs a nine-point start because it would be very difficult to peg them back," he added.
"Bray is a very difficult place to go and they are flying high at the moment but we have a lot of character in the side and we have to pick ourselves up and get back to winning ways."
I mean come on there is only 2 games gone lads. true we looked shocking in longford, and the bohs games was a disapointment, but dont all teams go through a bad patch in the season...(dont they) so we are just getting ours over with now ( thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it)....and if it gets gunther the chop early then so much the better. Then we will have time to recover and qualify for europe.

Maybe we'll have a bad opening with back-to-back good patches...?Originally posted by joe

Or maybe the club is so far advanced (!) that the lads are already in non-winter football mode...and have adjusted the bad run a little to ensure they will be smack on target again in 2003 while all the rest play catch-up.
Let's not despair too soon: plenty of time for that from next month on...

Yeah its like the middle of the season post-Mountfield.
Season starts in March, continues thru June & its like the usual December-February Blues
I blames the toto-cup junket. If it was going to cost sooo much why did the club "compete" (using that word very liberally)![]()
Good point rebel. Also we can't be expecting complete amateurs to make an effort for the whole season. In fairness to the likes of Patsy, Ollie, and Johnny C.Originally posted by rebel

Bit of a stupid comment, really since some of our best starts to the league have been due to being in tip-top shape after a proud European venture. This year we ****ed it all away so we could play Celtic. Two such big games and the Celtic game followed by a period of nothing (apologies to Milstreet Celtic) leaves us looking leg-weary and rubbish at the start of the league. Add this to the complete management (on pitch and in boardroom) shambles and you have a season of hoping for mid-table mediocraty.
Still, always next year.
u mean we arent going to win the league?
i had that info on good authority![]()

Remember UCD?
Year before last qulaity for toto-cup, go out on away goals & within a kick of the ball of being relegated. I know there were other reasons for UCD's demise but it surely contributed?
BTW I think a more professional club wouldn have coped with the toto cup easily but CCFC not professional are they?
We had 4 points from our 1st two games last year. It was the (long) middle of the season when we struggled. We also had a lot of injuries in a team with poor (to say the least) strength in depth. I think the Intertoto is a coincidence.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
