Liam Miller Transfer listed

The FAI are claiming that there is a conspiracy against Cork-born players.
The Sunderland manager is being accused by the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) chiefs of infecting the Sunderland squad with mediocrity while discriminating against Cork players.
An FAI source claimed
'It definitely doesn't help Liam Miller. If he was (from) further up the country, I'm pretty sure he would be in the Sunderland squad.
'I don't just say these things. There's no doubt in my mind that Liam Miller being from Cork certainly doesn't help him.'

This is very strange, he has been a first team regular for most of the season, got injured in the Brazil game which Keane was complaining about and now hes transfer listed. Very bizarre. More to this than meets the eye...surely.

would be a good EL signing though. i'd say one of the top clubs should make an audacious loan bid and see what happens. Can't see him being picked up by a Prem club or even a top championship club...

You may be right about the premiership but come on?? He got promoted with Sunderland and got to the playoffs with Leeds. A top champiponship club is an option...

was he a regular in that team last season though? Really do think that mid-table Championship is his level. Don't think he's as good as, say, Glenn Whelan, for example...

I'd say he's more inconsistent than average. He's the kind of player who seems destined to be yo-yoing between the Premiership and the Championship. There are parallels with the case of Andy Reid in that sense, only Reid's inconsistency and failure to carve out his niche is a result of injuries whereas Miller's is more down to dips in form.

He didn't seem to be doing that badly; when Sunderland played Man Utd at the beginning of the season he was the only member of the Sunderland midfield who looked any way comfortable on the ball, but I suppose they've come on since then and Reid obviously offers a lot more.

Says a lot about Keane's panicky incursions into the transfer market. Fair enough, Miller came in when Sunderland were in the Championship but he signed Harte with a view to playing him in the Premiership!

Miller might benefit from a move to a league without the physical intensity of the Premiership. I could see him getting a game for a team in the lower half of the Spanish first division.

I'm sure a Championship club will come in for him on loan. I actually didn't think he was doing too badly this season so I'm assuming they had a bust up!

how about ... "he is consistently average" ... would u accept that??

andy reid has skill and talent and if he didnt have weight and injury problems then would never have left the premiership

miller lacks quality and is way out of his league in the premiership .. he is a lower half championship player at best

he is a lower half championship player at best - maybe falkirk in the spl will sign him as it seems they like to sign irish players who never fulfilled their so called "potential"

and as for keane signing ian harte - wtf?? playing harte right back against newcastle still baffles me - why sign him when he was gonna let him go 6mths later - he should have let harte go to wolves if he had no long term plans for him

I am a Roy fan and make o apologies for that, but when you look at the list of players down for transfer, it shows what an amount of absolute turkeys and no-hopers he brought into the club, and would call in to question his manegement credentials

He was as regular as any of the outfield players were under Roy Keane, and was a regular in the Leeds side that got to the play offs.. I haven't seen much of whelan to compare them...

roy maintains that he cant get decent players into the club as they wont go to sunderland. from what ive heard of the city they probably cant be blamed for that. the fact that all three north east premiership teams constantly struggle these days no matter who is in charge despite millions of pounds being thrown at all 3 possibly backs this up

the jury is still out on roy the manager but i think he should be given the benifit of the doubt for now given his very impressive, all be it in the championship, first year in management last year

rumours of a bust up. Keane may have had some strange dealings in the transfer market, but he isnt just going to put one of his midfielders that has played the most on the transfer list at the end of february for no reason. Have to laugh that somne people think he will come to the Eircom league

Yes I must be deluded. We all see how past Cork stars like Damien Delaney, Kevin Doyle, Shane Long, Roy O'Donovan etc have been useless.

Would you put him ahead of George O'Callaghan as an player in the No. 10 role?

Ahead of Colin Healy as a box to box player?

Ahead of Farrelly or the very promising young Murphy as a bench warmer because if City signed him thats all he'd do. Sit on the bench.

Miller is pretty aveage but he has been one of Sunderlands better player this season and easily good enough for Sunderland, my money is def on a bust up.

O'Donovan is the very definition of Keane's transfer disasters (well him and Andy Cole). In effect he's bought loads of 1-3 million type players (most of whom he has some personal link with) and now is realising they are not up to it and are effectively worthless. What will he get for Miller, 500 grand? If I was Quinn I'd refuse to let him sign anyone else. What he needs to learn is that you should buy one good player not 4 mediocre ones. I cant believe the Sunderland youth system dcoesnt have people as good as Miller, Cole, Ian Harte or Roy O'Donovan.
