Don't know about this, I think we should be flexible for Derry and Longford. After all we all enjoyed our trip there this season and would hope to have other such trips.
heard last night that from now on Cork City will play all their home games on a friday night from now on.
There will No more moving games ala Longford and Drogheda to Saturdays.
Afaik the kilometer mileage rule has been removed from play at some recent League meeting.
life is random

"Allow children to learn by making their own mistakes, laughing at their stupidity often helps."
Agreed. Clubs should be trying to accommodate fans.
They should have some understanding when it comes to Derry and Longford.
has the distance rule been scrapped?
earlier in the sason we were away to derry on a thursday night.
i'm not blaming that on us being suffed 4-1, but i know always before we played derry on a sat evening.
Why should City or any other club, accomodate Derry when they insist on playing games on Thursday nights?
Longford, Waterford, Derry and ourselves should work together, but, while City get hammered at the drop of a hat for any fixture changes, why is there never a word about Derry and their Thursday night fixtures?
We had a few Longford fans on attacking the club for the switch to next Friday night, but City cannot insist on a change, only request it.
Lots of people can get a Friday afternoon off to travel, but a Derry trip is Thursday travel up, Friday travel down.
Two days off for a match?
We should accomodate any club within reason, i.e Longford on a Saturday, Derry on Sunday, but why should we co-operate with any club not willing to do the same?
Yeah, whats the f'ckin story with that? It is a complete whore.Originally posted by oddboy

We're not arrogant, we're just better.
This just shows the way the league is going, every club should be Co-operating on this, not trying to gain a silly advantage 1 week and complaining when another team does it the next,IMO EVERY club is guilty of being short-sighted on this.
It's all just a bunch of Tree-Hugging hippy crap.
In fairness lads, the Brandywell is a dog track aswell and is not available all the time. It is not like Derry are trying ot be difficult.Originally posted by Schumi

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
that may well be, but surely every team should play somewhere between friday evening and sunday night.Originally posted by A face

we were guilty of it ourselves last season when we played our home games on thursday night , i think to try and encourage the student crowd that may not be around on a friday, but thankfully we have reverted back this year
I agree that all clubs should try to co-operate, but my point was that City get sh*te from fans when switches occur, but there are more obvious targets who get away with it.
As for the Brandywell being a dogtrack as well, fair enough, but surely there is not dog racing on Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon?
One of these time periods would surely suit every other club, and fans, better than Thursday night?
I think there's dog racing on Fridays. Their rationale is that they get better home crowds on Thursday than they would (or did possibly) on Saturday or Sunday and that they'd get few enough away fans anyway so it makes sense to play on Thursdays to maximise their crowds and revenue.
I don't think they should be allowed to play on what effectively is a midweek day for selfish reasons but if the league don't force them to play in the weekend, you can't blame them in a way for exploiting that.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
games should be played either fri, sat or sun. ideally all on the same day. this thursday thing is a joke.
