Sounds like a menu got stuck. Reboot or log off and on again.
Right, I have yet another problem with my ancient computer.
When I turned it on about an hour ago, all was well except for one thing. My wallpaper is as usual, all my icons are lined up on the left side of my screen as usual, but there is a problem, which I'm not sure how to describe.
On my wallpaper, or should I say in front of my wallpaper, there is a 'box'. It looks like the menu which opens when you right click on the wallpaper (usually options like 'arrange icons by.., new.., refresh...etc appear in the 'box'), but this menu only contains the word 'Empty' in brackets.
When I actually get onto a website, it remains there, in front of the website I'm viewing - right now I'm on foot.ie, obviously, but the menu is still there, blocking whatever is behind it.
I want to know how to get rid of it.
I know it is possible to take a screenshot, which I'm guessing would show the menu for people (who know more than me about computers) to see, but I don't know how to do that either.
Any advice on how to get rid of it, or take a screenshot to show people the problem, would be greatly appreciated.

do you want to take a screenshot of your new desktop?!
ctrl + alt + prntscrn ( i think it should be spelt like that on most, though i dont know what kind of keyboard you have in japan ). then open up word or paint and type ctrl + v or copy and paste.
Im sure its described somewhere on the internet if you go to google and type "print screen".
