    Good Friday

Anybody know if pubs in the UK close on Good Friday? Looks like I'm going to the Isle of Man for Easter this year.
The glass isn't half full or half empty it's just too damn big!

I like it here when they do shut i think there should be more days like it.
I allways have a great day have a few lads over game of poker few cans few songs good old chat .............god i've just realised im old.

I used to find it funny that holy thursday was the 2nd busiest day after xmas eve in the off licence where i worked. The panic in peoples faces buying up slabs and slabs of beer because the pub was shut for 1 day !!!!

Indeed -Mons travel from further from border than you are just to show contempt for our dumb laws.

Incidently -my only experience of being out of this jurisdiction on GF is a trip to Belfast. the pubs were indeed open all day but none I found were serving alcohol until about 5pm.

I dont need to go over the border, I usually find other ways around the ridiculus laws! I feel it is my duty to drink in protest of the antiquated rule.

Staying in hotels is one of my favoured method as a resident you can drink in the bar. Last few years have been p***ed on GF just coz its bold to be!

Nope not the only place at all, you would be surprised how many countries dont allow the sale of alcohol on GF. Anyway one day wont kill you either way.

Pubs open from about 4.30pm but close really early too, usually about 10pm.

The only normal hours in the North is on Easter Monday night. Close early on Saturday night too as its rolling into Sunday.

Its not the point. I just dont agree with being told that I cant go to the pub because of some religious festival that I dont believe in.

I dont go out drinking often but I make dam sure to get drunk on Good Friday as my own little protest.

Shels have that pleasure this year. Shamrock Rovers had the year before last. Seems the FAI like to let us have games at home on GF! Its a pity tho that it is the big crowd games and we cant open the bar so we dont make any profit from it on those nights.

Pubs in South Africa close on Good Friday, although its probably not strictly enforced.Either way locals tend to drink in the sunny outdoors with off licence bottles and cans.

I agree with Magicme. I'll drink to spite them. The Church shouldn't be allowed to impinge on everyday life; if you believe in all that, don't drink, but don't impose your beliefs on the rest of us.
