eircom League of Ireland Cup First Round draw
Please find detailed below the First Round Draw for this season’s eircom League of Ireland Cup competition, which was made this afternoon.
Ties to be played in the mid-week commencing Monday, 21st March 2008. Date and kick-off times will be confirmed.

Wexford Youths v Cobh Ramblers : Sporting Fingal v Shelbourne
Byes: Cork City and Limerick 37 : Byes: Bohemians and Drogheda United
Pool B : Pool D
Kildrum Tigers v Sligo Rovers : Kildare County v Shamrock Rovers
Galway United v Longford Town : Bray Wanderers v Athlone Town

RULES FOR THE 2008 FAI eircom LEAGUE OF IRELAND CUP COMPETITION
Rule 1: The Competition shall be titled the “FAI eircom League of Ireland Cup”.
Rule 2:
i) A maximum of 24 Clubs shall compete in the competition on a knock-out basis.
ii) The 22 FAI eircom League of Ireland Clubs must compete in the Competition and invitations to compete shall be issued to the Ulster Senior League winners and the Kerry League. If an invitation to compete is declined, then the FAI National League Executive Committee shall have the power to issue an invitation to another Club or entity at its discretion.
iii) The competing Clubs shall be divided into 4 pools to facilitate the playing of the Competition on a regionalised basis for the First Round and Second Round only.
iv) The composition of each pool to be agreed by the FAI National League of Ireland Executive Committee.
v) The 4 Clubs that have qualified for European competition shall receive a bye into the Second Round of the Competition.
vi) Any Club competing in the Setanta Sports Cup shall also receive a bye into the Second Round of the Competition.
vii) In all matches, other than the Final, the draw shall determine as to which Club shall play at Home.
viii) In all matches, other than the Final, the Home Club shall be entitled to 60% of the gross gate receipts but are responsible for the payment of the match officials fees.
ix) In all matches, other than the Final, the Away Club shall be entitled to 40% of the gross gate receipts.
x) Admission by season ticket does not apply in this Competition.
xi) Match returns for all matches, other than the Final, must be forwarded to the League Director within five days after the match is played. The Home Club shall furnish the visiting Club with a detailed statement, together with the amount due, within five days after each match.
Rule 3:
i) The venue for the Final shall be decided by the FAI eircom League of Ireland Executive Committee.
ii) Notwithstanding the fact that the Final may be played at the home ground of one of the competing clubs, the FAI National League of Ireland Executive Committee shall control all arrangements and functions in relation to the Final and may, at its discretion, delegate some of the arrangements and/or functions to the Home Club.
iii) The competing Clubs in the Final shall share the gate receipts after the payment of allowable match expenses.
Rule 4: All matches shall be decided on the day by the playing of 15 minutes each way extra time if the scores are level at full-time and by the taking of penalty kicks if the scores are level after extra time has been played.
Rule 5: No player can play in the FAI eircom League of Ireland Cup Competition for two clubs in the same season.
Rule 6: In every other respect the Rules of the Participation Agreement shall apply to the FAI eircom League of Ireland Cup Competition.
