Question Trapp - Could Be A Mistake?

Personally I believe that although Trappatoni's record speaks for itself, we require something different to rejuvinate our international team. We need a motivator. I do believe that Terry Venebales was the man for the job. But like a lot of things the FAI and the credulous masses were duped by Mr Eamonn Dunphy and his rants on TV. How good is this mans english? I hope I am wrong but looking at various polls before this appointment, they showed Venables with absolutely no support - Why was this. At the end of the day, an international manager should not be judged on their club success as international football is a different game. International experience would be key to any appointment and Venables managed an English team to the respectibility of the semi finals while also hosting the tournament. Trapp got raced by Italy after the 2002 world cup. Eamonn Dunphy wins again. It is a bit sad really. While excited about Trapp I am concerned that he may not be the answer.

Trap speaks fluent English, so does Gentile, it wont be a problem. How would a man who has won 2 trophies to El Traps 20+ be a better appointment

    Hi Aiden,

Trap's English is better than Stan's, so whilst it's not perfect, it's an improvement on what you were used to.

    All the best.

And he seems like he would be able to motivate players. Staunton was hailed as the supreme motivator by the FAI and he clearly wasn't able to do that.
My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method, is love. I love you Sheriff Truman.

Venables could not win the Euros with England on home soil.

Trappatoni got ridden by S. Korea in 02 (5 goals disallowed in that tournament) and by Sweden and Denmark conjuring up a 2-2 draw in 04.

    Hey Aiden,

Don't worry I know it was before yer born, and you dont even know who trap is, but you will still get picked, and no one will pick on you in the crowd.

    Take care.

P.s. good luck with the player of the year award!

Oh dear. No offence but that fact you think Venables was the right man for the job speaks volumes.

Where to start ? see past previous threads on this site but briefly

    1. team needed tactics/a game plane not motivation
2, this site was anti venebles long before ED
    3. Zero - is the number of available managers who have won international trophies who would of considered this job
    4. Semi final appeareance as hosts in a tournament is a minimum (also lucky against spain, only 5 recognised penatly takers)
5 Italy unluckly in 2002 according to reports
    6. It is a lot of things but sad is not one of them
7.If he is not the answer then the players are the problem ,maybe now they will have some belief

You're making it sound like being hosts has some type of negative effect on the team.

You do realise that Venables also didn't have to qualify for the Euros?

BigMan Cas, how can you be excited about Trapp, but also concerned its not the answer?
Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'

Very much passable English, with that lovely, beguiling Italian twang.

    As for not motivating the team, I think he'll do much better than El Tel would. And may even be the best ever manager in the world ever;

    - His Outlook; In today's press conference he made the point about every national team being in the top division. He said he couldn't understand why Austria viewed themselves as an inferior team. I think that's the approach we need; instill confidence and belief, optimism, none of the "we've our work cut out against the worst team in Europe" balderdash.

    - His Charisma and Passion; How could you not be motivated (motivation often stems from respect for something) by a true legend of the game? He's seen it all, done it all. He has garnered invaluable experience over the decades, now on tap for our naive little bunnies to suckle.

I think Stan's ineptitude and general unsuitability will be magnified as we get used to Trap. He'll have us thinking like a great team, and when you believe you're a great team you might just start acting like one.

Did someone say 'unneccessary thread' and 'merge'???
Marge: Homer, the plant called. They said if you don't show up tomorrow don't bother showing up on Monday.
    Homer: Woo-hoo. Four-day weekend

Has Aiden be drinking mercury or sniffing glue or chewing on lead?

I'd rather we had a rotting corpse in charge than that Cockerney Chancer.

    Viva la Trapp!
