PRE-SEASON TRAINING CONTINUES FOR MONS
Mick Cooke continues to put the Monaghan United senior squad through their paces with tough training sessions in preparation for the 2008 season. Assistant manager Graham Doyle is pushing the players to their limits as they work on fitness and match sharpness prior to the 7th of March season kick off against Limerick 37.
“The squad are working hard and really coming together as a team. Fitness levels are definitely improving from the early outings against Bray & Bohs and players are a very committed bunch.” Cooke stated. “I feel very happy with the progress that has been made so far and know that come the start of the season we will be as prepared as possible”
As the preparations continue, Cooke and the squad will head to Premier Division side Derry City on the 23rd of February to take on the Candystripes at the Brandywell in a pre-season friendly. Kick off 3pm.

UNITED’S JUVENILES BACK IN ACTION
Monaghan United’s juveniles had a quiet weekend last week with games postponed but many of the teams will be back in the thick of the action this weekend.
The Under 12’s take to the pitch against Quay Celtic at 11am in Clancy Park, Dundalk. Quay Celtic sit just one point behind United in the table so this match is a must win for the Mons.
The Under 13’s have a home fixture against Glenmuir at 12.30 on Sunday and will be hoping to beat table toppers Glenmuir. The Dundalk side are 6 points ahead of United but the Mons have 2 games in hand so it is all to play for.
The two Under 14’s teams will be in action over the weekend too. The Monaghan United side will play against top club St Joseph’s Boys in the National Cup in Oriel Park at 11 am on Saturday as they hope to progress to the final 16 of the competition. The Monaghan Celtic team play Quay Celtic in Clancy Park at 12.30 on the Sunday as they try to move up the table.
The Under 17’s head to Malahide in the National Cup with a 1pm kick off as they hope to progress further.
