    clean up their disciplinary records

The British Football Association is expected to order three clubs to clean up their disciplinary records or face fines. Representatives from Birmingham City, Leicester City and West Ham United have been summoned to an FA hearing to discuss their poor disciplinary records. The clubs are expected to be given suspended fines which would be activated next summer if they fail to control their players. Birmingham collected a total of four red cards last season, while Leicester and West Ham both had five players sent off.

    It's a bit harsh

in the case of the three clubs mentioned two were battling against relegation from the premiership. they weren't down there because the were playing great football, week in week out they had to grind out results and tackles are going to fly in harder and frustration (and arguing with refs) is going to get worse as hope slips away.

theother club, leicester declared bankrupt not so long ago and will have to fight as the other two did this season, to have a fine hanging over their heads will not help them, nor i believe will it force anyone to pull out of a tackle.

all the players that were sent off will have already missed games or been fined by the fa or their respective clubs, i think that's punishment enough.

there are probably a few other teams who weren't far off four sendings off over the season, sure sol campbell was sent off twice, surely two more arsenal players did over the season, why haven't the bigger clubs been pulled up, is it because they can afford to ignore the fine.
