Best Rucksack to buy?

Hey Lads

Just booked my RTW Ticket! What Rucksack to go for! looking for a 55 + 15 L or so? Any suggestions? Look for one that will last for the year and is not too dear.

The Maher shops in Cork are some of the best activity sports stores in the country. I get stuff from there almost every time I am in Cork. You should be very proud.

My understanding of the Inter-rail/Eurail bag is that, because the traveller is getting in and out of tight spaces on trains. A consistent rectangular shape with a strong handle on the top of the bag, to carry as you inch forward to/from your seat was recommended. Internal frame. I think USIT or another student travel firm used to promote a paticular style.

You may want to look for a long-term investment and get a bag to cover more strenious outdoor pursuits in the future. But having more than one pack (I think you are meant to call them packs) is no harm either.

Don't be fooled be the marketing. Go for the best, Sporthouse. They are Irish and you'll only have to buy one because they will last you a life time (and i'm being dead serious there)

My one little titbit would be to maybe get one that opens all the way around, more akin to a suitcase in other words, rather than the toploader option. They're much handier as you don't have to take loads of sh1t out to get the t-shirt you want, and you can see what you have no problem.

Also, a travel towel is a must, saves loads of space compared to a normal towel. I think I've a list of all the handy things you only think of once you're away somewhere. Will have a look for you.

Have to agree Sportshouse are very good and a hell of a lot cheaper, I've had mine almost 20 years and it is still in great condition. Haven't done a RTW trip but have done a hell of a lot of traveling and it was the best thing I bought. It has been through hell and back, it has been rolled over by a 4x4, fallen down a cliff into the sea and is still in in good nick.

Travel towel is a must!!

Don't pack everything you think you need and carry it around with you. Things like Socks and Jocks can be bought cheap throught your trip so only bring a few to keep you going. Should free up a bit of space

Also photocopy all your docs and save them in your email account.
