Chess isn't a spectator sport though, and no-one pretends it is. It's superb to play, or even to analyse a game afterwards without the waits between moves.

Cant believe snooker is coming up its a great game to watch nut like everything depends on who is playing. Same with soccer it is **** boring if you get two crap teams playing each other. Golf wouldnt be very entertaining but then again you will always watch it if Harrington is doing well.

Mine has to be F1 Motor Racing it really is terrible!! Agree with Horse racing apart from betting purposes it is pointless. Cricket is sh1te too. I think any sport that cant be played in the rain forget about it!!!

Basketball for me - how can you get excited by a game of 4 quarters with 2/3 points a score that will end in a score of something like 110-90....why bother watching the first 3 quarters when you know that it'll only get "exciting" (and I use that term in the loosest manner possible) in the last 5 minutes or so??

Also rugby league - pass, run into player, roll ball back, pass, run into player then roll ball back....repeat 5 times....then kick to opposition. Anyone comparing this to union must be having a laugh...

I'm inclined to agree. It's like watching Titanic. You can join it with only a few minutes left and miss absolutlely nothing of substantial importance to the outcome.

Edit: except of course Kaste Winslett doesn't get her frankly delicious baps out in your average game of basketball.

Golf and Tennis are definate switch off tv for me.

Tried to get into watching F1 a few years ago, was mildly amused
but then after actually going to see one I lost all interest in it.

Not into athletics/olympics etc ... apart from the bloopers when the
pole vault snaps or someone gets mangles int he hurdles etc.

Is figure skating a sport? If so, I also hate that.
(even if its not, i still hate it)

Not big into rugby but I saw a few games of rugby league before and
    liked it better than union.

Comparing it to rugby union in what way? I think rugby league is a fine sport.

To be fair you can break down any sport into meaningless terms like that , ie footballl , kick off pass to player , pass to player , run with ball , kick it at goal , other team gets back , pass to player , pass to player , lose balll , pass to player , etc etc

Cricket, Golf, Athletics, Baseball, NFL, Swimming, Cycling, Rugby is alright but I hate the way everyone is jumping on the Rugby bandwagon these days

Cricket is a great sport, take some time to understand the rules, they're not that complicated and the one day and now 20/20 formats especially make for excellent viewing.
I'll watch 99% of sports with some degree of interest, what I can't stand is sports where you marks for style or anything that is subjective and based on a set of judges, if that's your thing watch American Idol or that ballroom dancing crap on bbc.

To me, any game that I don't understand the skill level involved is crap. Cricket is a great game, horseracing is just livestock going for a run and darts is for when you are on the lash.

Rugby is for lads who like bending down and pushing their heads up another chaps ar*e. Hurling is only around to allow spectators beat up officials, Formula 1 is there so that ugly people like Bernie Ecclestone can shift young blondes,

Golf is a great excuse to get out of the house for 7 hours. Athletics is for sportsmen and women who don't want their 'personal space' invaded.

I could go on but the tiddleywinks final is coming on the telly

Very insightful there. I might just take your advice now and abandon all sports except for cricket.

I think I should the parachute, because I'm great.

In fact, I think I should get both parachutes, in case one doesn't work.

Could you not say the same about hurling only getting exciting for the last 15 mins?
