Galway United won 3-2 versus Athlone . Goalscorers Leech, O'Brien & O'Shea and Reilly and Lester o.g. for Athlone. All the new signing impressed especially O'Shea

Not really. We'd a great laugh getting to know Bisto and Daisy though....

Shels were the better team last night. 0-0 it ended but for about the first 60 minutes Shels were the better team and also had the best chance of the match. Changing our whole team turned the game into a bit of a mess but we still had chances in the last 30mins.
Any Cork fan that was there care to comment on the football??

Even if Cork claim their best eleven were not trying !! it's still great to see a Shels team hold their own with the current cup winners and all their 'rich' stars...

Tbh I thought we were comfortably on top in the first half. Created a few chances, some good moves, but very little end product. Mooney have a few chances he will hopefully bury with a few more games under his belt

Thought ye defended well and were well up for it as well as having a few chances on the break in that half. Bisto(??) should have done better.

Ye were on top for a good bit of the second half alright, but for the last 25 minutes or so I couldn't name half our players so tbh wasn't too bothered about the football. None of them bar Billy and Mick will be anywhere near the team.

Was a good work out for us, and ye didn't hold back which is great for the lads so early. We have a lot to work on but I thought it was positive enough for us with Gamble looking especially good and the players looking fitter than they have this early in the season for a while.

Ye look a strong, fit well drilled outfit with a couple of skillful players. I'd expect ye to do well this year, if ye keep improving on a preseason game like you'd expect.

I couldnt name half our starting eleven!! nevermind the second eleven who finished the game

Your subs didnt come off that quick either! Murray was on for a good 80 minutes I thought. Devine played the full 90 too. I'm not sure where Keely got the players from! but we finished with a few trial players and still looked ok.

Kearney is one amazing piece of muck by the way!! easily the worst player on the pitch last night.

Bisto is Anto Flood. My tip for top scorer in the First Division this year, assuming he's not snapped up by a premier club at some point.

A very strong 11 started for us alright, but we werent very interested in getting physical. When ye starting putting in the hard tackles we stood off a bit, fear of injury so early I guess.

For us I think it was more about getting the first touch working,a dn a bit of movement and interplay going which happened.

For ye, I guess a lot of them would have been playing to impress if ye didnt know them. Ye can only be pleased with that.

Yeah the second batch were a bit later alright, not that late though.

The last few minutes were a bit of an all out, underage like, game. Players playing for contracts, flying in to tackles and the like.

    I agree.

They think he chose us over Bohs because of the fact it was home.

Crowd of 1,500 at it as well. Not bad for a pre season friendly.
