Any team has the right to request a photograph be taken of the opposition. I agree and whilst at it if the striker playing for Knock/Kiltimagh last week is a 2nd team player their first team should be winning the superleague.
It's a sad state of affairs when you go through a league season and finish in the play-off spot and come up against a "B" or "C" team, only to find it's full of first teamers. I feel sorry for your team of two years ago if ye were denied by blatant rule breaking. What have teams to prove or what satisfaction can be gotten from going up illlegally. Surely it's a pointless exercise as they will be found out in the division above and be straight back down the folllowing year. Surely the Mayo League could form a Reserve League, although that would probably tar the genuine second and third teams with the same brush as the messers. Are the Mayo League in a position to mail on a Registered Squad List of all teams in each Division to their opponents?? I suspect teams will still field illegal players under a registered players name. Also the referee's have a big part to play. If a referee sees a player playing for the A team this week and the B team the following week, has he a duty to report this to the Mayo League??? It's a very frustrating situation as a hell of a lot is sacrificed by Managers, Trainers, Players, Committee's and Members during the year, only for it to be taken away by a bigger club with a B or C team who don't bother to play fair. It's two fingers to all the honest clubs out there.![]()

That is pure bull. I played in that game and the same players that played all year played in the play off. Secondly we were relegated last season only in a play off with more or less the same team. If you want to name some players to give some substance to your comment it would help!. I do agree however that the b team rule is looked at again because of the general abuse of the rules.
Hi Lads. can the following not happen at the start of each season. First 16 players named and displayed in the mayo.fai web site for all to see. This could be done in about 2 hours with the register putting the names up. Simple them for all clubs to see and review. at the moment there is no way to see where this data is. i agree with all on players been used across all team. it happens in all clubs and i have seen it for years. time to stop it now
Would also need to have a rule that anyone who makes a certain number of appearances for A team(say four) is then not allowed to play for B team if they have one. This would prevent the possibility(!) of clubs naming 16 non playing club members on their A panel at start of season, making everyone strictly eligible to play for both A&B.
I think this is a discussion that could run and run. The current replies are typical with a "Oh yes ye did.......Oh no we didn't" theme. We have played a number of teams during the year that are definitely loading their teams for certain games. Teams have been beaten 7 nil in a game and then in the corresponding fixture gotten a draw or a narrow defeat. The fact that the A team happen to be playing on the same day as the 7 nil hammering and have a weekend off for the corresponding fixture, is surely more than a coincedence??????? I could accept it if there was a rule that every player can play A or B football, but from once he plays ONE GAME for the A's, he then cannot play for the B team again. But there doesn't seem to be any real rules in force at all, or if there are who's enforcing them. We're discussing it here and accepting that it goes on, but what's been done about it????
There's a team in Div.2 at the moment that have a complaint lodged against them for playing an illegal player. The fact that the player involved was registered for a totally different team in a different Division, is really just giving everyone else the two fingers.....![]()

Do tell oh wise one!!!
go on couch spud name the team and let the cat out of the bag.
ye might as well spill the beans lads. whos the smart arse playin for 2 clubs?. this disscussion is the same every year, no mater how you do it its never going to be completely watertight. the refs are the only people seeing the same teams on a regular basis they should report a team if they ref them 1 week and see them turn up with a totally different team the following week.
I fear a lot of soured grapes. First it should be pointed out no player is ilegal.
the rule is clear you name 16 A team players the rest are B team players and so on if you C team you name 16 B its that simple. No A team play may play for the B team, but B team players may assist the A team. Its no fault of any club should they have better players than one of a club who only have one team.
The old rules where change my the same club who now fines it frustrating, but that's life. these clubs where not happy when a player could only assist it B team 5 times then he became an A team player.
On the other hand you have to hand it to the clubs who have more than one team, and can manage to play all there games.
What do you do when a club has 40 players on its books but in one team?
No you have a B team.
Hope this helps
I was The Mayo League Register I can say with out doubt that no B team fields A team players.
Without running the risk of being thrown out of the league. All B team cards are Still being checked TO the present day By Gerry Sweeney. Have no doubt when you are Checking cards as I would have done you would fine it.
So before you start calling players illegal, at leased you should have objected to the Mayo League in writing rather coming on here and slating clubs who you think may have used player's who are registered with there B team and assisted there A team, does not make them illegal you and your clubs changed the rules.
as per rule 34.
I suggest that you go back to the drawing board and rewrite the rule if you think you can change it, for the next A.G.M. take note when you rewrite the rule that you can get it passed, that you delete of the existing rule which does not apply.
Wish you well in your task.
