I don't think I see the need for a new crest to begin with. The previous crest was gorgeous, and I am proud to have it on a jersey and a cap. Putting in a new crest says to me the old one wasn't good enough, and I don't see that being true.

    Awful.
    Absolutely dire.
Hopefully, a rethink is in the pipeline.
City definetly have the best bands playing at half-time.

Apparently not, home jersey for next season is all green (Hummel) according to rumours. The crest is appaling though, and the explanation even worse.

Am I the only person that kinda actually likes it? Although the C thing in the background is a bit daft. Have Limerick 37 started the whole 3D style crest or what?

Crest is dreadful. Shocked looking castles, flag of surrender on a ship that won't fit through that gap, no club name, no idea of what sport its for, wieird use of shadowing on the castles and boat and horrible colours too

Just noticed they have replaced the Cross of St Patrick (as per City of Cork crest) with a red burgee (to warn of damage) and put a white burgee on the ship (surrender).

    Alternative crest

Love the comment about the white flag of surrender.

That's one aspect I didn't even notice till you pointed it out. Makes it even worse than I originally thought.

    That's hilarious!

Didn't youz just change crest last year? And a short time before that as well? (Or am I imagining that last one?) I seem to recall a red yoke with a sheep or something.

What was the reason for the new change? (Marketing waffle aside)

We've had the same crest in various colours since the club's inception. In fact, this isnt even the first time a city crest has been based on black.

Well, cutting through marketing waffle to straight marketing reasons, they wanted something trademark'able, which the old crest wasn't due to the immediate inclusion of the city coat of arms, and something "simple and recognisable"... "like spurs' new crest which is just a symbol"

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

This is the one I was thinking about. Sheep must have been on Waterford or Cobh's crest. (Sure fire way to get favour back with the Corkies! )

    I like the colours.
How can you have a black and red crest and keep a green and white strip?

Looks like a bit of cheap knockoff of the L37 crest. What does two Castles and a ship legging it have to do with Cork by the way?

It's based on the previous one, just bastárdised slightly. Cork Harbour, I'm guessing.

Not great. I'd share the reservations most CCFC supporters seem to have about it.

It looks a bit like a mid 80's record sleeve and the boat alone is confused as a Jazi. The low profile of the bow suggests something like a Viking longboat and then the sails skip a century or seven and appear to be of the type seen on a Portugese Man-o-war. Symbolic of Corks long history as a port? Then why not stick a chimney stack, an outboard and an Irish Ferries logo on it as well?

Think there's some kind of livestock on the Sligo crest.
