Gaynor Cup 2008

I would say most people know this already but if ya don't; the age groups for Gaynor Cup have dropped a year ie

u18 now u17
u16 now u15
u14 now u13

I dunno what the point of dropping age groups was bit pointless and makes alot of girls not eligible to play especially at the higher age bracket

And in the newly released calender from WFAI there is no national cup dates....anyone know whats going on??

possible explanation of age changes....

U17 - Ireland now compete in NEW Uefa/Fifa U17 World Cup and this allows all girls competing to be eligible for this squad
U15 - now alligned with the FAIS u15 International squad
U13 - girls start Gaynor 1 year younger, not a bad thing. also allows a way for girls playing u12 National cup in Oct/Nov, they continue onto Gaynor u13 the following June

it puts the gaynor in line with the ages for international squads,so thats ok. but, last years u16s are nopw on their last gaynor, and anyone u17 from last year, is now overage, so i guess emphasis is switching to younger players

Ya i suppose it is a good thing in a way......obviously its going to aid the international squads in the respective age groups but its going to cut out alot of girls that will be now deemed overage! I know for a fact the Munster U18 team will be depleted of the senior more physical girls that will be now classed overage...will the tournament be a lesser spectacle because of this?? I dunno im in between whether the advantages out weighs disadvantages!!
