Draw throws up another Dolan reunion

The semi-final draw for the eircom League Cup has thrown up yet another meeting between Pat Dolan’s present and past employers, Cork City and St Patrick’s Athletic.

It will be the third time the sides have met in the three months that Dolan has been in charge of the Leesiders.

Both previous meetings between the sides have ended all square – a drab scoreless draw in Turners Cross on the opening weekend of the season followed by the 1-1 outcome the weekend before last, when Cork rescued a point with a goal four minutes into injury time.

Cork reached the last four of the League Cup with a 2-0 victory over Waterford United on Monday night, while the Saints overcame stadium rivals Shamrock Rovers on a 3-0 scoreline last week.

In the other semi-final, Longford Town – conquerors of league champions Bohemians on Monday evening – will enjoy home advantage against the winners of the Derry City-Sligo Rovers tie, which takes place at the Brandywell this evening (Tuesday, June 17th).

The ties will take place on the week commencing Monday July 7th.
