Hartigan dropped - that's good for a start

Cork City players have much to prove to manager Liam Murphy against Bohemians tomorrow after a woeful 4-1 loss to Longford Town last Saturday.

"It's important to bounce back," the City boss told the Irish Times, "and the only way to get the Longford defeat out of our system is to beat Bohs.

"We had no excuses in Longford, but the four goals we gave away were down to sloppy defending. We just didn't give ourselves a chance and we can't afford to play like that again," he added.

Bohs manager Pete Mahon was surprised at Longford's victory. "I was amazed at the size of Cork's defeat to Longford - they must have had an off day," he said.

"When I played you were guaranteed two things in Cork: a cup of tea and a hiding. We'll settle for the cup of tea." Mahon will stick with the team that beat Derry last weekend.

Murphy, meanwhile, will opt to drop Noel Hartigan after an ineffective display at Flancare Park. Veteran Pat Morley is likely to partner James Mulligan in attack.

Alan Carey is bizarrely on holidays, while both Neal Horgan and Tony Tynan are in China with Ireland's universities team at the World Student Games. Declan Daly is tipped to return, with Stephen Napier starting at right-back.

and as for the hiding...maybe if we get rid of Gunther and get a manager with even an iota of sense. Hartigan cannot start for one, and neither can Colin. I mean i know he tries, but when did he last have a good game?
