Did he not say before the Welsh match that it was for the new manager to solve to Stephen Ireland situation and not him. He should have just re-iterated this.

givens is a w**ker who has too much to say about people/things he knows little about. he uses his position to promote his ego. he loves people talking about him- which is why he often has pops at players through the media. this isn't a once off "Kevin Keegan" moment, I recall a Stokes incident recently too.

he has no right to be involved with any of the ireland teams at any age level because he has proved that he cannot deal with players in a proffessional manner- especially young players.

however, he is not the only inept appointment the fai have made and continue to stand by. Gerry Smith and Vinny Butler have worse records than Stan, but the FAI brushes their dismal results under the rug. They are hidden from the spotlight of criticism; both them and the FAI can happily wallow in their mediocre state

Presumably a Director of International Performance would try and address this?

Instead of being the pride of the country our underage teams have become a joke, mismanagement rife based on anything I've seen. Not calling up Garvan last year for the crucial U19 game against Germany at Dalyer bcause he had the hump a year or two earlier

If O'Hara had been called in, would we be saying "do we really want someone who didn't declare earlier on"? After all, he has underage caps for England, which Andy O'Brien has gotten grief over.
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

You can see Givens point of view here in fairness. People shouldnt have to be coerced into playing for their country. However plenty players who were like that in the begining turned out to be as commited as anyone when it came down to it.

The 'straight talk' express strikes again. I would like to hear O'hara's version of events. How much longer is Givens going to be allowed to remain as u/21's boss?

I'd be more worried about how much longer he's going to be the Ireland manager at the moment!
My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method, is love. I love you Sheriff Truman.

I thought O'Hara wasn't elegible because he hadnt declared for Ireland before turning 21? Will someone please clear this up once and for all?

Typical Givens statement though. Now it'll be more awkward for O'Hara if he does want to declare for Ireland.

I remember O'Brien saying he only played for England in a non competitive game because he would still be able to play for Ireland.

The reason is that Givens looked at him before he was 21 now that he is 21 he cant play for us.

I never realised his parents were from Wicklow, i was under the impression it was just a single grandparent that was Irish. Being second generation Irish myself, I find it a little surprising that someone with two Irish parents would show such little enthusium to play for Ireland. Each to thier own i suppose.

    Givens

Don Givens is a can of p iss

Regarding Stephen Ireland, what he did with the Grannies was wrong, but a pretty tragic thing had just happened him. Why the lynch mob?

And Stephen Ireland said he didnt want to be considered for selection so it is up to him to make himself available for selection, do you honestly believe it is good for any team's spirt to have a primadonna deciding when he will and wont play. Yes welcome him back but only when he makes the first move and im still waiting for him to repay the cost of his private jet, to see his grannies.

Trapatoni for manager with Brady his assistant being groomed to take over would be an ideal appointment and if the three amigos pull this one off, i wonder how many journalists will accept that they have done an excellent job, mind you with the FAI in charge Stan could get the job back yet!

That is one of the biggest steaming piles i have read on here. There is no way you can describe Don Givens as that and not expect a backlash
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Who was it he was giving out about at one stage saying "that player is only interested in his money and fast cars, he should put more effort in" and the player respond two days later in another article saying "the guy is nuts, i dont even have a driving licence"

Givens is a clown of the highest order. You cannot defend the indefensible. For the good of Irish football we need to get shot of this fool.
