    Whats your favourite sporting film?

Whats your favourite sporting film of all time?

For me its This Sporting life, one of Richard Harris's best performances. A beautiful piece of filmaking, particularly the action shots, something that is very easy to do badly. I cant think of another film that captures whats its like to be at the bottom of a ruck (or equivelant).

    Whats your favourite sporting film...

Any Given Sunday - Mainly for that speech.
Marge: Homer, the plant called. They said if you don't show up tomorrow don't bother showing up on Monday.
    Homer: Woo-hoo. Four-day weekend

Every film that has featured football has been total rubbish. 100%

Raging Bull is a superb film.

Hoop Dreams - given I have no interest in basketball whatsoever, the fact that I was couldn't take my eyes off it is testament to its quality.

I think the fact that it was a documentary was the reason.

It seems to me that it is very hard to recreate on the big screen what makes sport so special. The only other sports film I really loved was When We Were Kings, another documentary.

Hoop Dreams is probably the best documentary I've ever seen.

Dodge, if you have eight hours or so to spare, you need to see Shoah. Depressing obviously, but uplifting at times. All others pale in comparison.

If Ron Howard didn't make such a soppy film of Cinderella Man, it possibly would have been the best sports film. The Book is amazing. For me i'd pick Raging Bull.

Still haven't seen Any Given Sunday or that much talked about speech.

Either Friday Night Lights, which is an film about high school american football
or Shaolin Soccer, where a team of ex shaolin monks learn to play football to defeat Team Evil
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

    Sounds plausable.

    It's ridiculous, moronic, garbled slapstick.

    And it's very very funny.
On the way into the stadium, an elderly San Marino Steward waved us in and said "Tonight, may the best team win"

    And they nearly did.

    Remember the titans

Denzel is a class actor and makes most movies he's in that bit better imo.

for comedy Id say The replacements, Keanu Reeves and Rhys Ifans, I loved that film.
