the difference between clinton morrison and alan lee/connolly is that clinton has previously played quite well for ireland so has already proved that he can do the job

In fairness I don't remember seeing Morrisson have a complete nightmare for Ireland and he is playing well at the moment.

Scoring plenty of goals in the Championship and deserves a recall to the senior squad.

Clinton also has personality. Personality goes a long way.
I think I should the parachute, because I'm great.

In fact, I think I should get both parachutes, in case one doesn't work.

Is this the way we will pick squads in the future?........through "Auditions"
Tact is for people who are not witty enough to be sarcastic

You may laugh but from what I hear of the squad dynamic Clinton's personality would be very welcome.

Its your above reason I have a problem with ..the slightly racist reason you are refering too

I agree he should be in the squad but I don't think the reason you are stating is why he is not

Fantastic idea. All future squads to be picked by a Simon/Loius/Sharon Management team. (Oops, I may have unwittingly stumbled upon the FAI's cunning secret plan)
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison has revealed his frustration after being snubbed by Republic Of Ireland caretaker boss Don Givens for their showcase friendly with Brazil, writes Simon Fitzjohn.
Morrison, who sits second in the Championship scoring charts with 13 goals this season, had hoped his excellent form may push him back into the reckoning.
But the forward, who has struck nine goals in 34 appearances for the national side, once again found himself out in the cold.
Morrison said: "I'm 100 per cent disappointed not to be involved.
"It's always great to be involved with Ireland and I love going away with the boys.
"It would have been a fantastic game to be involved in.
"But the manager makes a decision and you have to respect that.
    "I'm absolutely gutted".

I think Clinton deserves a place in the squad anyway. Hold up the ball well and gets the odd goal. Surely worth a place on the bench anyway.

Is it on the box? I'll record it if it is
    <EDIT>
No, it's not on according to this: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12942,00.html
Actually there's only one live game for the rest of this week, which is strange enough
