    Athlone Town Supporters Trust

    Constitution


    *The Trust must operate for the benefit of the community that it serves.

    *The Trust's members and officers will not profit from the Trust.



    ** This is currently work in progress and we hope to draft a full constitution once legal requirements are fulfilled.


    Objectives


    *To strengthen the bonds between the Club and the local community which it serves and also to represent the interests of the community in the running of the Club.

    *To encourage the Club to take proper account of the interests of its supporters and of the community it serves in its decisions.

    *To raise money and donate in such a way to promote the aims and objectives of the Trust and to the benefit of the local community and the supporters of the Club.

    *To promote the full, accountable democratic and constructive involvement of supporters in the running and direction of the Club including the principle of supporter representation on the board of the Club

    * To promote coaching schemes to develop the football skills of young people and to widen interest in football regardless of the sex or ethnic origin of those involved.

    * To develop links with supporters of other football clubs to further enjoyment for all fans

    * To promote the game of football as a recreational and sporting activity and focus for community



    If anyone agrees in principal to the creation of the Athlone Town Supporters Trust, in line the objectives as stated above, please register your interest and/or queries by emailing athlonetownsupporterstrust@gmail.com or by texting either Chris on (087)9918956 or Ash (086)8131980

    To have a strong and sucessful Trust we will need the involvment and support of people who care about securing the long term future of Athlone Town Football Club.

    We will hold a public meeting explaining this in more detail if there is sufficient interest shown.

    Gust Agm

    is on this tuesday in Galway, Im sure that crew in galway would be happy to give yee some ideas. Its a tough slog but even if you get 4-5 committed individuals it can grow from there. Apart from the money, promotion, season ticket sales on behalf of the club, poster promotions of games and stewarding are huge help to clubs. GUST contributions are growing year on year thats considering a lot of it raised while we were in the doldrums and last year wasnt exactly mind blowing football. If we manage a bit of success and the fans are organised fundraising will triple where once we would be only beginning to manage to mobilise the troops with a bit of success as its a lot easier at them times.
    There is a lot of anti trust feeling from suits in clubs but its the best way to represent supporters and could be useful in the future to stop the game selling out to any moneybags from mars that arrives

    Thanks for that post Geezer. We are in touch with the lads from Galway, Dundalk and Sligo in trying to get this off the ground. A fair bit of work done but a hell of a lot more to do
