are ye certain yer club will be allowed into super league without yer own facilities.id hate to see ye denied but i had a conversation with a mayo league official recently and this subject came up he didnt think your promotion would be santioned by the gods of our game. if ye get automatic promotion i seriously hope this doesnt become an issue. any word on when your swinford game will be played

We have an application in for a grant for the development of a pitch in Fahy with dressing room and the works. And a few quid in the bank. I think that should be taken into consideration. It's not as if we're sitting on our laurels. Also, I don't really see why Milebush is valid for the other three divisions and not one. I know it could be an issue but I'm not sure if making an example of us is justifiable, especially considering we are making inroads into becoming autonomous. If the argument is that we would have an advantage over other teams it's just nonsense, we often play Westport B at their place instead of at home, as we'd prefer to play on grass.

This is obviously a biased opinion but I would like to hear other people's opinions on why we should be excluded, or maybe why we should. Of course I'm not presuming we'll be promoted, it's just hypothetical...

For us to get there and not be allowed to play in the super league will be a huge disappointment. I think the Mayo League will try to accomodate us somehow. As FF said we are trying to get the facilities and we are a small club, so maybe pitch sharing with another club or something like that will enable us to play in the super. Thats IF we qualify to do so

In fairness to the Mayo League it is not a million years since we used to spend sunday mornings togging out under trees and in the back of cars.

The standards have risen considerably in recent years due to the joint efforts of the M.L, participating clubs and their comittees.
The M.L set standards for what they consider to be acceptable facilities and I for one think that an astro turf is not suitable for super league football.
A line had to be drawn and credit the M.L they gave us (Fahy) the oppertunity to play there whilst we worked on getting our house in order.
It has always been quite clear that should we progress to the Super League we will need to find a grass field.
If Fahy gain promotion then I am sure we will find a suitable solution.

    Result

    Swinford 1 Fahy Rovers 2...

Good game played in bad conditions for both teams.2 goals for fahy both questionable offsides but not given and a certain penalty not given to Swinford deep into injury time ( Nothing new there )..Swinford were missing 7 first team players so they can be proud of their preformance..
Its going to be a tight finish now...

    swinford 1 fahy 2
first time that we've ever beaten swinford away.overall i thought that it was a fully deserved win for us despite swinfords appeals for a penalty at the death.the ref banned all slide tackles during the game in the wet and hazardous conditions which in hindsight was a very good decision as the tackles were flying in from both sides.another few points would be brilliant for us to try and get into the super league for next year.fingers crossed!

congrats to s and f in beating ballina in the semi-finals of the mayo cup this afternoon.they did brilliantly to come back from two goals down with gerry gaughan running the show from midfield, fitzy playing excellently upfront and both reape and costello were superd at the back.all four surely in with a shout of making the mayo squad at the very least.

Fully deserved win, ye should have had a penalty for that one alright, but we missed 4 or 5 easy one on ones with the keeper. We also were missing 6 or 7 first teamers so happy enough to take all 3 pts there.

3 pts guarentees us promotion to the super league, be nice to beat celtic B, get promoted and close the gap next week...

What happened celtic b against manulla b?

    Mayo cup semi final

congrats to s&f yesterday, they played very well, to come back from 2-0 down shows the quality in there side, they looked like to wanted it for the full 90min. they pulled it back to 2-2 for half time, great goals from paul fitz and gerry gaughan. second half s&f took over, 2more great goals from fitz and gaughan. s&f fully deserve all they got this year, a big well done must go to there players and management.
fitz, gaughan, craig reape, mick costello and captain alan mcdonnell all having great performances yesterday.
    well done s&f.

Do ye ever have a full team out. Ye always seem to be missing 6 or 7 full teamers. Ye must have some squad of players.
