hahahahah
Obviously you havent watched many of his matches he has one of the highest ball retention rations in the premiership for a midfielder and also put in the most tackles for man city this year even though hes ment to be attacking right/free role player
Hes also our 4th highest scorer and concidering elano takes pens thats not bad,, and he only has 4 goals in 6 international,, nice input though......
I like Stephen Ireland, but it is true that a lot of City fans want him out of the club.
I'm just trying to say he is not our ''saviour'' or some Kakaesque midfielder.
This is why it is such a frustrating situation. He is obviously full of potential, however without commitment and determination that potential will never be fulfilled. Just to put those 4 goals in perspective, Cyprus,
San Marino, Slovakia and Wales. Am I alone in thinking we should be beating teams like this by 2-3 goals every time we play them?? We need to stop underselling ourselves, we can produce a team made up of players from supposedly the best league in Europe plus probably the best player in Scotland. Why do we not believe we can hammer a team of amateurs or three teams predominantly made up of lower league players and as I previously posted, why do we feel the need to beg a player to play for us. Why not leave him alone and when we qualify for the WC let him come grovelling to us begging for a chance to play on the worlds biggest stage, by then I reckon this forum will be telling him to get f*#ked because Owen Garvan or Steven Reid will be bossing our midfield with Andy Reid or Glenn Whelan helping them keep it together. We have quality in the centre lets have a little faith in them.
Help something bit me!!!
Why are ye still acknowledging his refusal to play for his country by keeping this thread going?
All this thread is doing is offering false hope to the masses and obviously the situation hasn't been resolved so it's time to get over it and focus on the new generation of Irish football minus Stephen Ireland.
Obviously he's an idiot who thinks he deserves world class treatment when the truth is that he is an idiot who deserves absolutely no special treatment for being an average player with an under-achieving team.

maybe stephen ireland is one of those misunderstood genius's that come around once in a lifetime. The only problem with this is that so far we have only seen the tiniest glimpses of this[particularly in an ireland shirt].For us to appreciate the great loss we may be losing he has to give us a few years of that genius so that we can then lie prostrate at his feet and beg for his forgiveness and mesiac return to save us

i wonder could ireland end up like this:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7431283.stm
I'm a bloke,I'm an ocker
And I really love your knockers,I'm a labourer by day,
I **** up all me pay,Watching footy on TV,
Just feed me more VB,Just pour my beer,And get my smokes, And go away
I agree, but if he could play like he did at OT this season over a consistent basis, he really would develop into a genius.
I really think he(if he stays at a good level) will move to Italy/Spain or Germany to play football within the next three years. He seems to have that sort of charachter who would want to play in them leagues.
I didn't vote because there is no "Not bothered" option.
if Mark Hughes is appointed manager i think mr Ireland will be on his way i dont think
he would be his type of player i hope it happens becuase the way he has behaved up
till now is jest not on
The headline could be spun as
"Most of the fans either don't want Stephen Ireland back or want him to apologize first."
I don't know what way to vote,
How about a
No, not even if he apologized on RTE - option
Same option, but also mentions his love for his dog who is now 2 legged, but can use his tail for balance.
I'd vote for a - let me back in, I'm sorry and I'll promise to score at least a goal in every game I play.
