The guy is a great player a player we certainly cant afford to be without as we are so light in centre midfield in terms of quality but there is obliviously something wrong upstairs with the lad if Trapp can sort his head out im sure we will see the best of him in the forth coming campaign we badly need it

Well as Richard Dunne is quoted "SI has been quoted in the media that he was bulied by certain members of the squad, he has had the opportunity to correct this and has not done so"

while my words are not 100% accurate I have the correct gist of it and SI has not contested the remarks.

His family situation is possibly true and possibly not true but his actions since have done nothing for him and I for one at this stage hope he never wears the green of Ireland again.

Stephen Ireland does have some ability - I'm not saying he is completely useless - but it is not in the best interests of the team to have someone in there who is unhappy and who fundamentally does not want to be there. At the end of the day, it's his choice and like I said before if he wanted to be a part of the Irish set-up he would have come out and publicly made that very clear. He has not done that which demonstrates that he does not want to play for Ireland. All of us will have our own thoughts on that but ultimately that is his prerogagtive and we need to accept that and move on. There are other players who do want to play for Ireland - those are the guys we should be talking about!

It's more evidence that he plays as an individual, and not a committed team player.

So by your reckoning that must apply to every Man City player that played yesterday??
    Its really not that complicated!!!

you said that Steven Ireland proved yesterday that he is an individual rather than a team player because of that defeat.... Im just asking you if the same applys to every other player that played for man city yesterday or is it just your obvious dislike for Steven Ireland that leads you to make comments like that?

i read a newspaper article recently where stephen ireland was regarded as "grossly immature" and "mildly retarded".
i think thats the crux of the matter.
he is simply not the full shilling .
any talk of him betraying his country is frankly mistakenly crediting him with brains he doesnt have.

If it is true that he was bullied by team mates then that is wrong full stop and the management team need to weed out the players involved and make it clear that it is not acceptable or welcome. Hang those involved out to dry and make a very public example of them. Bullying should not be tolerated in any walk of life regardless of the effects the punishments may have on the success of the team. If the bullying rumours are true then I would be the first to retract any negative comments I made about the guy.

Richard Dunne has been quoted on this

The media has reported that SI was bullied by his colleagues, he has had the opportunity to deny these allegations and has chosen not to

not dunnes exact words but he was very ****sed off that SI did not deny the allegations

SI has alienated himself from so many people at this stage that for him to return at the moment is highly unlikely and probably would only have a detrimental effect on team morale.

Its a new set up a new beginning. All it should take is an apology from SI to the squad on the first day back and that be the end of it. We're not blessed with good players so we need him in the squad.

Are you living on a different planet, or is it alirght for SI to send his apology from whereever he is on the day they meet up as he has indicated no intention of being in Dublin

The only official word from Ireland himself is that he never told anyone that he didn't want to play for his country again and that he's looking forward to working with Trapattoni. Anything else is hearsay and speculation
