I think after that disgrace of an interview this morning no journalist should ever bother asking Trap again about that Manchester native!!!!!!!!!

At least he has finally come clean and admitted definatively that he does not want to play for Ireland.

I am sure his granny will be relieved as she could have been marked for death again when Stephen needed to do another runner.

The contrast between Stephen manchester and real Irishmen like Kevin Doyle is huge.

Doyle was prepared to risk further injury, hide his knee problem and pump himself full of painkillers so he could play in the Bulgaria and Italy games.

Probably not a clever move by Doyle, but it showed his loyalty and passion for the Ireland team.

Then you think about that waste of space who plays for Man City!

Its better to have the Ireland midfield positions filled with players who have ambition & passion for the team than some guy who does not give a sh*t about his country.

tbh i think ireland comes across real well in interviews. seriously are we to be suprised that when a kid leaves the country at 15 that perhaps he might not be that interested in playing for his country by the time he reaches 22?

Fair point, in your 1,000 post.
Plus he has more issues than Sports Illustrated. Everything taken into consideration, probably not that surprising........

Just watched that interview again, all I feel is shame and embarrassment that I am a resident of this muppets home town. The only good thing to come out of it is the fact that he has closed the door himself, and we should be spared the fingerpointing from his apologists, blaming Trap the FAI various players etc.He doesn't want to play for Ireland. The silence from Bellavista is deafening.

I always thought he would come back at some stage, its very disappointing that we are gonna miss out on a player as good as him but at least we have some very good talent emerging in central midfield so maybe we wont feel the loss too badly if the likes of McCarthy,Garvan and other fulfill their potential.
I think for any Irish fan its a decision the is impossible to understand when most of us would give anything to be good enough to get even 1 cap.
    Its really not that complicated!!!

The bottom line. We now have heard it from from his own mouth.

Mods, lets close this thread and move on.

The way he's playing today, he'd barely make it in the squad don't mind the team. Great to see

There should be a petition started to get Mr Ireland to change his name.

He is a disgrace to his country and back in the good/bad old days some one might have offed him for his treachery.

The treacherous one should be ostracised by Irish people of all shades and opinion. I curse the the hair follicles(or lack there of) on your baldy head Mr I could not give a fook about Ireland.

Just close this thread or move it to World Football please. I'm sick of seeing this muppet in the Ireland forum. He's made his call.
Did you ever notice that in every painting of Adam & Eve, they have belly buttons. Think about that...take as long as you want.

Keep the thread here, he's and Irish player playing football in England, no different from David Connolly.

david connolly, for all his shortcomings, would probably walk to ireland if he was asked to play against italy or bulgaria, so yes there is a difference
