You're spot on (as usual)
I suppose if it was the new manager then he would have called up the full quota plus a few more.

Would have hoped to have seen Walters or Tabb in to see how they'd do on the right side of midfield.
I wonder who'll be called up when Andy Reid drops out. Knowing Givens, we'll probably be talking someone like Gibson or Potter, it's unlikely he'd take a risk on Garvan, McCann or anyone like that.
By the way, is Shane Long still eligible for the u21s? If so, I would've put him in that squad and called up Morrisson (and maybe Lee) instead...
I see. Well then, it would have made sense having him in the u21 squad considering his club form as of late. However, come to thinnk of it, I've can't seem to remember much of Long playing at u21 level though.... has he a good record?
Would it wise to consider Stephen Hunt for the middle of the park? He's played there a few times for Reading this season. It would give us an opportunity to see how Murphy would fair out on the left with Duff on the right>
I wouldn't mind seeing this team:
Given
Kelly
Andy OBrien
Dunne
Kilbane
Murphy
Reid (S)
Hunt
Duff
Keane
Doyle
And if Joey O'Brien was to consistently get Premiership time in central midfield, I wouldn't mind seeing him there in a friendly either. Based on the squad picked obviously.

Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!
Article on Charlton's website about Andy Reid's call up to the squad: http://www.cafc.co.uk/newsview.ink?nid=31872
Doesn't say anything about him dropping out, but he didn't play against Stoke, and is still a doubt for Stockport this weekend.
Andy Reid and Joey O’Brien have withdrawn from the Ireland squad for next week’s international against Brazil at Croke Park
Reid, who moved yesterday to Sunderland, has a knee injury while O’Brien is ruled out after picking up a hamstring injury in Bolton Wanderers’ recent game against Fulham.
Caretaker manager Don Givens has drafted in Wolverhampton Wanderers duo Kevin Foley and Darren Potter as replacements.
A small number of tickets in different categories for next Wednesday’s game and the May 24 fixture against Serbia have become available and are on sale through Ticketmaster.
There are a number of Premium tickets which are only available on a two-match package basis for Brazil and Serbia plus a quantity of general admission tickets for the Brazil game only. Brazil have not taken their full allocation of tickets for the game.

Shouldn't you quote your cut and paste source??

Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
Owls was it necessary to quote the FAI´s press release for a second time?
I guess that Stephen Ireland didn't make that phonecall to the FAI, he would have been called up.
If Givens has called in Potter to replace O'Brien, does that mean he sees Joey as a midfielder, rather than a full back?
<edit>
Actually never mind, Potter replaces Andy Reid, Foley replaces O'Brien
There. That's more like it.Originally Posted by on the FAI website scribbleboard (draft 1 - Not for public consumption - Press dept.)

On the way into the stadium, an elderly San Marino Steward waved us in and said "Tonight, may the best team win"
And they nearly did.
The worry for me is that Givens will end up advising the new manager on what players to pick, how can we ever move on and progress when we have someone such as Givens involved.
Hope he plays on Wednesday.
Looking forward to seeing the boy.
Forget your CRonaldo's, THIS boy is the future.
Memories of Maradona at Lansdowne in 79.
Pato scored the only goal for Milan tonight. 4 goals in his 3 games for them I think. Hopefully himself and Kaka start on Wednesday.
