Jackie Lennox was an excellent player during 50's, based on my dads unbiased opinion!
Karl Winginton (Wiggie) was an another my dad would always harp on about. Great at free kicks.

My own choice would be Alex Ludzic, legend, played over 4 decades. Great keeper and gentleman. I remember a guy threw toilet roll at him from the shed and he proceeded to pretend to wipe his arse! Shed was in teers!

What about Tucker Allan. A legend in his own lunchtime!!!

Seriously we all have our favourites from our own team. How about if we were to pick someone who never played for us. Al Finucane was a top player and would definitely figure in my pick. As for a Rovers player, there's been so many!!!

Dave Barry - Bayern Munich & Effenburg (even non-LOI fans know that one), Galatasaray, League winner, Cup as player & manager.

For Limerick I picked Kevin Fitzpatrick. 22 years of service, capped for Ireland and always loyal to the club. Great keeper.

for the league in general I'd say

Paddy Coad.

Well, ye've only 30 or so down there, The Man Himself tells me, and we've got a few more up here, so I reckon we might actually total 70 odd.

Two choices from Dundalk, The late, great Barry Kehoe for his sheer energy and skill, never seen the like since.

But the vote would have to go to Tommy McConnville, 3 lges and 3 cups with Dundalk, also 6 full caps i think, and he played with the great Waterford side in the early 70`s for a season or two also.

A true legend.

They have "Al Finucane - Waterford"

. To me he is a Limerick player. I don't even remember him playing for Waterford. I always remember his phrase "Some people would cuts their arms off to get their hands on the Cup"

Stephen Geoghegan and Tony Sheridan for me. Loved watching Liam Coyle and Gino Brazil too.Gino was top quality and an absolute gentleman off the pitch too

Al won the Cup with the Blues in 1980 sure. And he played against Bordeaux in '86. Oldest player in the European Cup I think.

Dave is a living legend but I don't think he won a Cup as a player, just a manager.
