MONS BACK IN TRAINING
Monaghan United’s senior team took to the training ground on Saturday last in preparation for the upcoming season. Manager Mick Cooke and new assistant manager Graham Doyle put the squad through their paces on Saturday with training sessions on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday each week making 4 training sessions to whip them into shape.

Mick Cooke said “Training was great. Graham really pushed them to the limit and the new recruits were settling in well. I look forward to getting a few games under our belt in the coming weeks which will really show us where we are at”

BOHS AND UCD FRIENDLIES ARRANGED
Mons Manager Mick Cooke has arranged some “tests” for his squad with a game against Dublin sides Bohemians and UCD. The Bohs game is set for Saturday 2nd February in Dalymount Park time to be confirmed while a date for the UCD game is still to be decided.

AGM THIS MONDAY
Monaghan United FC hold their Annual General Meeting this Monday at 8.30 in the Greg Turley Suite at Kingspan Century Park. All voting members are requested to attend.

JUVENILES IN ACTION IN CUP GAMES
Monaghan United have 3 Juvenile teams in action over the coming weekend in the National Cup competitions, weather permitting. Monaghan United’s Under 12’s take on South Dublin team Granada at their Meadowvale Ground in Blackrock. Granada have beaten Broadford Rovers, Newtown Juniors, Cabinteely FC and Athy Town in the South Leinster section of the Norton Cup to set up their meeting with United.

The Under 14’s head to Trim Celtic in the Goodson Cup. Trim meet Monaghan having despatched of United’s fellow Dundalk Schoolboy League teams Dromin, Rock Celtic and Walshestown. The winner of this match will face Sallynoggin side St Joseph’s Boys in the round of 32.

The Under 16’s travel to Malahide on Sunday to fight for the chance to play St. Michael’s in the round of 32. Malahide have ended the cup dreams of Walshestown and Albion Rovers on their way to their rendezvous with Monaghan.
