39 games a season with one game played abroad will lead to 40/41/42 games with 2/3/4 games played abroad. I fully expect an all Ireland league to draw a large worldwide TV audience in the not too distant future and can forsee Eircom league games being abroad when a big enough audience has been created. Don't agree with this happening as it will eventually damage the game.

I see Roy Keane is in favour of it (after he was spoken to by Quinn and the Sunderland Chief Executive (i.e. "there's lots of money in it for us").

What in God's name are you talking about? We cant get more than a small percentage of Irish people interested in domestic football, so I don't know that people in any other country will be too keen either.

think its a great idea for the premier league to play one league game here, for the thousands of supporter's that travel each year across the pond.
I would hope that should it happen that monies that would be raised would go to support our own game. If this was done then it positive.

An absolute joke if the EPL play a game away from England. FFS like, worst idea I've ever heard for a league. It's a English league so they should all be played in England.

Asian bloc to fight Premier League 'colonialism'.

The Premier League's controversial 'international round' project was dealt another major blow yesterday when the powerful head of the Asian Football Confederation spelt out his opposition to the proposal and appealed to his member nations to reject it.

So it's not just the Eircom League fans who don't like the idea

"We said when this issue first arose that FFA's overwhelming priority is to promote the Hyundai A-League and continue to invest in, and grow the game in Australia. That remains our view" Football Federation Australia chairman Frank Lowy.

If Delaney & the FAI had any balls, they'd come out with the same statement in relation to the LOI. Not a hope of that happening, a proper FA would though. Bertie would have a heart attack if the FAI stopped the Premiership coming over here.

FFS, typical FAI bashing just for the sake of it. Why do they need to say anything as there has been no mention of Dublin as a possible venue and anyone that has a clue about what the EPl proposal is about would know that.

Forgive me for not fully knowning about a foreign league's proposal.

There has been mention of Dublin, therefore the FAI should say something.

Sometimes if it's of interest, but I tend to focus on the league of Ireland, as I'm Irish.

People on this thread for a start. The English FA said they might be playing abroad, abroad could be Ireland as much as anywhere else so I think the FAI should come out and let them know it's not an option even before they say if they're considering Ireland, like the Aussies have done.

Yes, as do i, but surely you pay attention to what's happening in the Uk as the EPL and SPL are probably the main threats to the LOI in terms of investment and support etc or are you too insular to even consider that??

Ireland was never mentioned in any of the EPL statements whereas Australia was.

why would someone watch something because its a threat to what they care about also, its not so much a threat, as the giant foot standing on its neck

Ireland was never mentioned in any of the EPL statements whereas Australia was.
