    DCFC Supporters Trust: Public Launch

Derry City Supporters Trust - Public Launch
    Millennium Forum, Derry
    Tuesday 4th March 2008 - 8.00pm

    Rationale for Meeting
The meeting will introduce the principles and philosophy behind the Supporters' Trust movement by having speakers from other Supporters' Trusts and from Supporters Direct. There will be a Q&A session for supporters to ask about the Supporters Trust movement.

The meeting will be used to seek a mandate from Derry City supporters to establish a formal working group to proceed with the formation of a Trust. More information is available on http://www.derrycitytrust.org/

    Guest Speakers
Dave Boyle - Deputy Chief Executive of Suuporters Direct
Dave joined Supporters Direct as a Development Officer in 2000 and has helped set up over a third of the Trusts in existence. He is a former local government press officer, and has also worked in the voluntary sector. He is an AFC Wimbledon supporter and is also a National Council Member of The Football Supporters' Federation.

Dave has represented Supporters Direct on Newsnight, News 24, Channel 5 News, Sky News, ITN and Radio 1, 4 and 5 as well as on regional media, and has also spoken at meetings at the Labour, Liberal Democrat and Co-operative Party Coneferences. He has also written for 442 Magazine, When Saturday Comes and Tribune. Hehas given papers at International Academic Conferences and given guest lectures at Birkbeck College, Bath University and on Liverpool University's prestigious Football MBA.

Rob Bradley - Board Member of Supporters Direct and former Chairman of Lincoln City
Rob has been a Lincoln City supporter for over 50 years and was elected to the Board of Supporters Direct in 2005. In 2001, the Lincoln City Supporters Trust spearheaded the community buy-out of a debt-ridden Lincoln City, making it one of the first truly community-owned League clubs in the UK. Rob served as club Chairman of Lincoln City and elected representative for the Trust from 2000 - 2005.

    TBC - Glentoran Community Trust

    Other Guests
Noel Mooney - FAI's National Coordinator of the Club Promotion Officers Programme.
Alan Kearins - Bit O'Red Supporters Trust (Sligo Rovers)

Further information will be posted about the event in the Supporters Trust sub-forum. That forum can also be used for anyone who have queries about the Trust and what its all about.

On the 80th anniversary of the formation of Derry City FC, we view the launch of the Trust as an exciting new chapter for the club and its supporters and we believe that a Trust can ensure that this club remains enshrined in the heart of the local community.

All supporters are invited along to this event and to have a say!
