Sporting Fingal to be offered First Division place

I think block has hit the nail on the head if there is no local indenty then it will be near impossible to build a fan base, at best it would take many years to do so and the question is will the finances there for a long haul.
I dont think ive ever heard of someone discribe themselves as a fingalian

Add to that the fact that Dublin teams struggle to tap into the sort of local/community identity that regional clubs can when they're doing well (e.g. Derry, Cork, Sligo, Galway), and I just can't see how a brand new team plopped by magic into an area with no coherent identity in a city that already has too many teams - most of whom have struggled to expand their occassional fan-base - and I just can't see how Fungus will succeed ?

Plus 'SFFC' is a sh!t acronym.......

Thats fair enough I suppose. I don't know a lot about the area so I was just assuming.

When the GAA were considering breaking up the Dublin County team into 2 teams. Were Fingal going to be one half or what? It obviously didn't go ahead. Were the reasons above something to do with the fact that it didn't go ahead?

Correct! that was the plan. but on the contrary the reason's above were why they were trying to do it in the first place

the counselors in fingal have had a hairbrained scheme to make Fingal the official 33rd county of Ireland for some years now and the GAA team split was just another step on the way to an official split from Dublin in their eye's
