I see they are advertising for someone to run the club. Looks like they will be employed by FCC, thats interesting.

just been trying to find some info on the new club - and I came across this:

    http://www.anfearrua.com/db.asp?a=to...lay&tid=431124

The GAA lot don't like the idea of this new club somewhat

I found that too and left a few comments, as you can see. They don't like 'outsiders'. Register and leave a few yourselves

Very hard to make a comprehensive argument on their boards using words of less than 5 letters and ending every sentance with 'boy'. Anyway, I think they are fed up with me now. (But I'll be back!)

I think you'll find they've no problem with outsiders. Plenty of soccer and rugby fans post on an fear rua. However you started talking about the grab all association in your very first post so what did you expect? Didn't really seem like you were that interested in discussing the issue the thread was about. As someone not in possession of the full facts at present I'll keep my own counsel, however it does seem at first glance that the Sporting Fingal concept is somewhat of a new departure for Irish soccer. If there is a precedent for a county council becoming involved with an individual sports club in this fashion I'd be very interested to hear about it.

I find it very hard to understand how some people on this forum imply -- or even suggest -- that GAA followers are narrow-minded and introverted when statements like that are dished out.

I'll probably be chastised now, but I sometimes find it ironic, to say the least, when people are falling over themselves to crassly generalise the GAA as 'bigots' without really understanding why.

Jinxy, if you read all the posts, I admitted on their forum to just taking the ****. Also, is there a posh part of Wexford?

Rocky 77, where did you get the notion of bigot? Look up the dictionary and point out examples in my posts

Does anybody know what day of the week SF will be playing because as far as I'm aware the floodlights in Morton Stadium are not up to ELOI standard.

My hope is that people, confronted with and provoked by something as falsely based and ludicrously titled as 'Sporting Fingal', are spurred on to seek out the real deal in their football heritage.
    100% agree.

From an outsider's perspective it doesn't seem right that an artificially-created plastic club with a ludicrous name should be picked from the ether and given a place in the LOI.

Surely there are other clubs around the country with a bit of tradition and a bit of support that would bring more to the league?

Will the coaching and administration staff of Sporting Fingal be employed by the council?

If so there initials should be CCFC (as in County Council Football Club)
don't how that suggestion will go down with posters on here from the other CCFC though

Look up my post and point out examples where I specifically accused you of it. What I actually accused you of was making an ill-informed, narrow-minded outburst.

I kind of agree. I've only skimmed the thread linked to above, but there seemed to be a fairly reasonable reaction of "why is council money backing a pro club?"
