A Player has a direct free kick outside the box. He shoots and it hits the ref come back to him and he hits it first time sticking it in the top corner! What should the ref do??

Award the goal and then go straight to A&E and get the whistle he swallowed removed

I guess the same applies for a rebound from the crossbar?

Always recognised the ref as being just another legal pitch-bound object like a goalframe or corner flag. Wonder if such a goal has ever been allowed?

Correct and yes it has - in the LSL Div 3B, I saw it many years ago looking at a referee in Tallaght, I laughed a lot when I saw it and the referee knew straight after the tip off what a boo boo he made. You can only learn from it
