He got the Leeds Assistant Manager job today as well
don't let it bother you..he is only emptying his head...not much left now
Bring back the plank
He got the Leeds Assistant Manager job today as well
They must be desperate so!!!
A little harsh I think. I don't think he should have been offered the Irish job in the first place. The FAI promised a world class manager and gave us Stan.
If anyone was offered the job, regardless of experience they would have taken it and have the confidence to be a success.
I was as happy as anyone when they got rid if him but only because the job should not have been his first and it should with his lack of management know how.
Who knows in a few years he could be a competent mananger.

you have to have a certain level of astuteness, cuteness and intelligence to be a good manager, im not sure how many of those staunton possesses. I heard him on sky sports news yesterday. He is terrible.
I'm a bloke,I'm an ocker
And I really love your knockers,I'm a labourer by day,
I **** up all me pay,Watching footy on TV,
Just feed me more VB,Just pour my beer,And get my smokes, And go away
If he had half a brain he would have had carsley in the squad before this match, and as for McShane, he was forced into picking him because of injuries, dont let time cloud your judgement on this cretin. It wasnt enough for him to make a laughing stock of our national team, but he then proceeded to rob from its coffers and its future by squirming for a severance fee, if he was any sort of man he would have done what keegan did and hold his hands up and say he wasnt good enough, walk away and do the best to help irish football.

What are you talking about?
Calling up Carsley wasn't swallowing his pride, he had to pick him. And the fact that Carsley wasn't in the original squad, but then is immediately made the mainstay of the midfield shows how clueless he is. He was forced in to picking McShane due to injuries and suspensions. If he had really wanted to pick McShane as CB against Cyprus only for big bad Bobby to talk the worldwise Stan out of it; why wasn't McShane on the bench in Cyprus. Regardless, McShane produced an okish performance, and has since gone on to show he wont have a long term future as an international CB.
Why is taking off one of our most dangerous players against Germany considered a plus point? A training trip to Portugal eh - how did Staunton ever come up with such a groundbreakingly novel idea?
Staunton will never make it management, how could anyone take him seriously? There is absolutely no way in hell that he "could become a fantastic manager some day"
Ciaran, are you off your head? Picked McShane? He was at fault for the czech goal, and everybody got carried away with him because he was decent in that game. Now I think it has been proved that he is nowhere near international class...some peoples opinions never cease to amaze me
Sorry mate that's that utter ******. He had a higher budget then most of that league and failed. He bombed out all the young players coming through (Andy Keogh for example) and replaced them with journeymen like Paul Butler and Sean Gregan. Wouldn't play Aaron Lennon until he was forced to by injuries. He played Healy on the wing and left him on the bench for the play off to play one up front and produced the worst tactics I've witnessed at a game this side of some of Stan's games. Did you see Leeds's form from March till the end of the season the year they went to the play off final? Totally choked when they had automatic promotion in their sights. That carried onto the next season and the lack of basic fitness in that squad was a major factor in them going down last year. He allowed the likes of Butler way too much leeway and left a majorly split dressing room as a result. And his team played some of the worst football ever seen at Elland Road. He may have had difficult conditions under Bates but his constant spin and bull**** he spouted to the media ('Only me and Gary Kelly here' etc) was embarrassing and totally untrue. The squad Leeds had at the start of their first season in teh Championship was good enough to go up. The man was a clown.
couldn't agree drumcondra. blackwell was and is a t wat
See what happens if you put enough spin out there about yourselfYou get your old job back of putting out the cones which is more than I ever thought he would.
Lesson in life there. Try and put a positive spin on the most negative things and the world is your oyster or at least your cone.

I never said the guy was Rommel when it came to tactics. Yes they staggered into the play-offs when they might've gone up automatically. Yes he played Healy out of position and yes he should've given more young lads a chance. But there was also a real fear Leeds could drop another division such was the gutting going on. For better AND worse he bought bargain bucket players he reckoned could stop the rot and create a platform to build on. He also uncovered a part time playing/auto-windscreen fitter who could score for the hell of it and managed to keep a team competetive when half the squad were on 500 quid week-to-week contracts which the club were defaulting payment upon.
