There were some interesting logistical factors in play there, not so much tactics.

Stan was more of Dad's Army tactician, willing but not quite able for the reality but thought he was.

    slightly off topic

Not wanting to sound like a nerd but could never understand the claims of Montgomery and Mongomery supporters that he was a great general

He had more men, in long prepared defensive conditions, air superiority, the lay of the land meant there was only one way for Rommel to go at El Alamain, and Rommels supply lines were stretched to the limit.

The German codes were broken so they knew the time as well. Baldrick could have won that battle

I wouldn't be a big Monty fan and as you say this is not the place to discuss it but in his defence, he turned an army that had lost, and lost again, in to a winning one by organisation and superiority in all aspects.

Don't forget the Allies had superiority over the Germans in 1940 and see what happened then. Logistical superiority doesn't necessarily = victory.

New manager of Darlington. Just saw it on Football 365. He's clearly desperate for a job, they're bottom of League Two with 2 points so far.

This must be his last make or break chance at football management.

I hope it works out for him.

Its where he should have started his management career, at the bottom of the ladder and go from there.

I hope it works out for him, great player for us over the years.
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?

Lucky Darlington, by the end of Stans 'four year plan', i fully expect them tpo be in the Premiership. Shame on the FAI for not letting him do his fantastic 4 year plan

He deserves a chance. Not an international job, but a means of working with players every day and learning the job. At least with the bottom side in league 2, the only way is up.

don't harbour any ill will towards him, I blame Delaney far more than Stan for his reign

I hope he does well. Good luck to him. He was just way out of his depth when it came to managing an international side.

100% agree with this. Good luck to him.

Hopefully it might help him and us to forget about his first 2 years in "management".

Well, he is starting where all managers should start, and seeing as I have drawn a veil over his life since the end of his excellent playing career, good luck to him in the new job. Hopefuly he'll meet no-one toting a fake gun tonight.

Ehm no. Fans of Chester, Luton, Wrexham, Mansfield, Boston, Rushden, Oxford, Kidderminster and Cambridge might have something to say about that.
That question was less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.

Help me, Arthur Murphy, you're my only hope!
