    Ticket exchange in groups

Just checking what people think of selling a ticket for, say, the Brazil game on the proviso that the person must buy the Serbia one as well 'cos they're in the same package?

My feeling is that tickets should only be sold for any one match in particular, regardless of how you bought them. You can always arrange to swap the Serbia ticket when the time comes for that game. A person shouldn't be lumped with a ticket they don't want as a result of the exchange threads.

Should the rules not allow these kind of offers at all, or should they allow for these people to be skipped over if a person doesn't want to take tickets for both games?

I disagreed with you on this a while back but I see where you're coming from now. The FAI sell the tickets as a package but at the end of the day, we'd have to buy them anyway to guarantee a spot on the block booking. The only difference is we have to pay for both matches at the same time. As far as I'm aware the tickets didn't go on public sale.

So I would agree with the current rules and I think they shouldn't be sold as a package. If the tickets had gone on public sale I would be more sympathetic with the people that couldn't make the games. As it is they'll probably have to lose out on their money for the Serbia match but as I said, they'd have had to buy the Serbia tickets anyway to keep their block booking (I think). There'll be no problems selling the Brazil tickets.

If someone is selling both the Brazil and Serbia tickets I would question their motives. Do they expect someone else to do the friendlies and keep them on the block booking for the qualifiers? Our small group allow a member to sell a single match ticket if they have a genuine reason for not making it, if they were to sell 2 in a row without a good eason they would be replaced. Can't see too many genuine fans not able to make either date.. or maybe im cynical. It is different for those travelling from overseas for the home games but not really for people living here.

They should be sold separately. Just because the FAI sell them a certain way, doesn't mean others have to follow. If they have spares for both games, they'll get rid of them whether sold separately or not.

If people want to watch Ireland play, they will have no problem buying tickets for both the Brazil and Serbia matches. Why do people just want to buy tickets for the Brazil match? Is it because it's Brazil?

It was the same with the Germany and Cyprus games. Plenty of people wanted tickets for the Germany game (there was a good sized waiting list on this forum for it), but you couldn't give tickets away for the Cyprus game.

At the end of the day, if you want to watch Ireland, you will buy tickets for both games.

I always have spare tickets for every international - it's just the way my block booking works as I look after quite a large amount of tickets. However, I will only sell them the way that I purchase them. I had a few tickets available for the upcoming friendlies, and I sold them as a package. The people that purchased them off me had no great problem with it.

I know that the FAI may be putting a small amount of tickets on sale for the upcoming friendlies - but they will only be sold as a package. Basically, if you want to watch Brazil, you'll have to fork out for Serbia too. Why should it be any different on here?

The way I'd look at this is that if I have spares for both games, I'll only sell them in advance as a package as history has shown that tickets for the smaller game are near impossible to offload. As harps1954 said, no one wanted tickets for the Cyprus game but half the board wanted Germany tickets.

If selling as a package isn't allowed here, then I'll sell any spares elsewhere. Surely it's better to offer people the chance to buy tickets for both games here if they want to. People who only want to go the big game won't be losing out as they wouldn't get the ticket anyway.

Yer I am with Harps on this issue .
People only want to cherry pick I have lost count of the number of people who have asked me if I could get them a Brazil ticket and yet for some strange reason no one has asked about the Serbia game .

I agree with Schumi on this one, give the people the oppurtunity to buy the package if they want. I've lost count of the amount of times I've ended up with tickets for the "smaller" games, that no one wants. It'd be interesting to see if the Brazil waiting list was changed to Brazil and Serbia waiting list, how mant names would stay on it?

I don't agree with that at all. Unless you're in Dublin (as you should know), going to Ireland games takes time and holidays from work. People don't have an infinite number of holidays, and therefore they can't be expected to go to every single game just because the FAI force them to buy a ticket. It's perfectly reasonable to pick and choose if your holidays (or your budget for that matter) are limited. Obviously some are cherry picking, but plenty aren't.

Don't agree with doing things the way the FAI do them just because it's their way. That way danger lies!

Not necessarily talking about stopping packages being sold, but at least putting in a proviso that if harps1954, for example, has a package to sell, and he PMs the first person on the list (which he didn't, but that's a different matter...), it should be OK for that person to say no, I don't want the package, just Brazil (or Serbia or whatever). harps1954 can then move on down the list.

Im obviously not representative, but Im in Dublin for that week, Monday to Friday for personal reasons and wanted to take in the game because of it. Bad enough being stuck in Dublin the week of my birthday so I thought this might put a shine on it

Obviously though Brazil is a bigger draw, but there's no way Id pay 80 euro just for the brazil game

Sorry to break the news but us mugs paid €70 per match for all the previous games in Croke Park, so €80 to watch the Brazillians isnt to bad in comparison to €70 to see Cyprus or Georgia etc

That sounds fine, I wouldn't have a problem with that.

Obviously noone's mentioned the Serbia game, as it's still two and a half months away with another game before it. Wait til the last week comes before it, and you won't be able to keep them.

Personally, couldn't care less who Ireland are playing against, if I'm offered one whether it's against Brazil or Brunei, I'll take it. The match is more important than who the opponents are.

Stu, I think you will find if you ask them that I offered both Mayo_bhoy and Gilberto eire tickets by way of PM last weekend. Mayo_bhoy hasn't even responded to me yet, while Gilberto Eire at least responded. What is the point of someone like Mayo_bhoy sitting at the top of a waiting list looking for tickets if he doesn't reply to a PM.

Therefore, I think you owe me an apology when you said that I didn't PM the first person on the list.

Fair enough, apologies where it's due. But make a note of it on the thread so another person coming along knows to skip over them.

What about a separate list. One for Brazil only, one for Serbia only and one for Brazil and Serbia. If people were to PM the names on the Brazil list, tryin to sell the 2 game package, waiting for a reply and then being told they only want the Brazil game,it would be just a waste of time. Like I've said in a previous thread, myself and my mates have a stag that week and can't make the game.I'm a BB and would gladly take up my allocation of 6 tickets for both games, if I was guaranteed to sell the lot. I'm not going to: take up my allocation, sell the Brazil tickets, and then be left with a load of Serbia tickets. It's happened to me before.

This is a good suggestion, will save delays waiting for responses from people who are not interested in the offer.

my solution? sell the brazil ticket for twice the face value (cos people will pay it. and don't start complaining about touts. 'oh boo hoo. market forces.' grow up.) and throw the serbia ticket in for free.
    Superdave to the resc....

    Brilliant!

And you know the gas thing some people would buy under those conditions but wouldn't take both at face value
