We lost Flynny for nothing v Pats

Due to an administrative mess, Ireland's U21s look like they'll lose the 3 points they "won" against Albania because Liam Miller should have been suspended.

So after all the hullaballoo over missing Flynny for the St Pits game, it turns out he was wasting his time at Dalymount.

Imagine if, God forbid, he picked up a knock during that game, and it turned out the game was meaningless?

Will his goal even count on his international record now?

Well done the FAI....another fine mess!!!!

it's probable that the points will be gone but not definite yet, although i doubt the FAI could organise a decent appeal. flynny's goal will count and the match result will stand, we'll just have three points deducted as a 'punishment', (albania won't be awarded the game or anything like that).

it is difficulty to believe that in this day and age that the Irish U-21 staff didn't realise this. it's a disgrace when you think of the work they all put in and how infrequently the u-21 Irish team actually manage to win.

This should be the end of Givens.
He has not been a success, he hasn't really improved or progressed any players, he has almost completely overlooked the eL until very, very recently and so it's time for a new man.

    Thumbs down Disgrace...

I could not believe when i heard it on the radio today. The FAI are an absolute disgrace.I have been involved with local football for many years and this is one situation where a club will always know whats going on.How this could happen for our INTERNATIONAL team is beyond a joke.Someone should be held accountable for this error....

Personally I think it's up to the player and the manager to know these things, the only thing I would say is maybe they thought it was 3 yellows, but still, following on from Keano last year and points deduction for Pats 2 yrs ago we must be a laughing stock to other countries.
It's all just a bunch of Tree-Hugging hippy crap.

i heard something about how the u21s haven't won a competitive game in 18 months. that'd be ok, if the seniors were brutal and/or the other underage teams were doing badly. but every other senior team has a very good track record. how in the name of god is that complete muppet givens still in charge? and not only that, but in the papers over the weekend i came across a couple of fawning articles going on about what a great coach he is and how lucky we are to have him. hopefully this little escapade will be the straw that breaks the camels back and he'll call it a day, albania are a likely to finish the group ahead of us, our u21s are worse than albania.
