    AUGUST

An historic moment for the Eircom League, as Drogheda United progress to the third round of Champions League qualifiers and draw Glasgow Celtic. In a shock result, Drogheda triumph 2-1 on aggregate, sending Ireland into mourning.
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern sends his aide de camp to Dublin Airport to commiserate with Gordon Strachan's men before they make the journey home. Strachan is sacked, and is immediately installed favourite to become the Irish gaffer.
    Funny because it is true

I think Mr. McDonnell will be busy accepting phonecalls today....quality stuff though, I especially like his prediction about the Drogs knocking Celtic out of Europe! Nice to see that he gives the FAI a hard time about the managerial appointment aswell. From the amount of time it is taking, to the appointment of the committee...the whole 'selection process' is a farce.

    Hilarious stuff.

As they say in the North; a joke with a jag.

I'd say Daniel has ruffled a few feathers there.

    So in a nutshell...

The Sunderland bandwagon rolls on, Drogehda have another good season, Limerick have another crap season & the FAI haven't got a clue what they're doing, nor will they they ever!!

    Sounds about right.

Meanwhile, in the Eircom League, preparations for the new season continue at pace, but chaos reigns when a number of clubs arrange warm-up games for the leap year date of February 29.
They are fined €500 each by the FAI's Disciplinary Commission for staging matches on a day that doesn't exist.
    Don't give them ideas lads

The latest FAI Disciplinary Commission missive causes confusion as Limerick 37 are fined €37,100 for having three diagonal corner flags and one of the square variety for their joust with Kildare County at Jackman Park.

feckin limerick again always trying to pull a fast one, i heard from a person at the game that he say danny drew cutting bits off the flags, heard its going to court next week to fightt for the right of reattachment of said flags
