I did Download last year but I think they have a rubbish line-up this year so Im not doing it.
But for anyone into the bands there, Id definitely recommend it...ticket is a bit over €230 or so, but its extremely easy and cheap to get to (East Midlands airport is nextdoor to the festival site and we got our flights for about €40), and its a really well organised festival![]()

I'll be heading to Cois Fharraige with my mate.

Anyone else at Bon Jovi yesterday? They put on one hell of a show. Razorlight were rather disappointing, got the impression they'd rather be some place else. Kid Rock at least made an effort and got the crowd going. Bon Jovi played from 8.30 until 11.05, serious value for money there, had the crowd going mental from start to finish.

Anyone else at Radiohead at the weekend?
Thought it was a bit disappointing - crowd very subdued.

They were at the Dry Cleaners![]()
The ten pints I'd had beforehand possibly had me in the wrong frame of mind for Radiohead.
It was more a Radiohead performance than an actually gig, if that makes sense? There was no interaction with the crowd and zero atmosphere. Those massive open air gigs tend to be a let down at the best of times, though.
Theres an unauthorised greatest hits at the moment and I think they were avoiding the obvious "Radiohead plays the hits" scenario.

I'd imagine ten pints might have been four too many. That over-exuberance tends to happen when you're let out for the weekend though.
Having earlier today read the Irish Times review, it does make sense: "There are problems, however, and it's more with the demeanour of Radiohead than the music; if the music is loose, then the band seem to be coiled up tighter than the elastic in a tennis ball. There is little sense from the stage that this is a communal event; disgruntlement, too, drifts through sections of the notably mature audience like a fog in a Hammer horror movie...."
That could have a lot to do with it. You just have to brazenly barge, or politely squirm, your way to the front really. Apparently a rainbow appeared just as they were getting started though! At least one moment to be remembered maybe. Those massive open air gigs tend to be a let down at the best of times, though.
Were you there Friday or Saturday?Friday was always going to be fairly subdued given most of the audience decided to go as an afterthought, any big fans snapped up the Saturday gigs within the week or so when it was the only date.
I had to go Friday with a wedding Saturday. I had a great time but the impression was that other people were quiet enough. I was quite close up where it fairly tightly packed but by the end had formed a 2 metre freak clearance zone around meI specifically left my mates cos I thought the weirdo Radiohead fan might appear and they'd never speak to me again
I would be interested to hear how it was the Saturday night. A mate I know said it great, crowd giving it loads, but he was at the front and you can tend to lose perspective.
