I don't think I've ever felt the need to reply "thank you" to a post
Probably been discussed before, but has adding a "thank you" button been considered to the bottom of posts. I have seen several posts that I would agree with or find useful. Rather than having to quote them to say so it would be much easier just to click on the button to do so. You may have already rejected this idea.

Top Breeders recommend drinkfeckarse....
It's a feature that has always been on the Irish League Forums, and I really like it. You can thank people when their posts are useful, informative or funny and is a nice touch.

Perhaps you could rate the thread instead? See top right of threads.
Ack, that's not the same. Sure some of the threads on here go on for ever and no one gets a warm fuzzy glow from knowing that their specific witty remark has been appreciated.
#NeverStopNotGivingUp
well Thank You's in that context are more for when someone makes a point that you agree with rather than something thats POTM worthy which tend to be largely humorous.
Indeed you can, and should as well! But surely there's nothing stopping you from doing that now? Anyway wouldn't an exclusive button for that purpose just get boring after a while; the weight and meaning of such exaltations gradually quelled?
Maybe there's the broader 'I'm not complimenting you cos that makes me weak' or 'I don't like him I can't laugh at his jokes' themes at play here - one of my little pet hates with people. Personally I'm a credit where credit is due man. Must pat myself on the back for that actually.
Maybe for this bright new year people here can resolve to being more positive and complimentary? Go on, it'll make you feel good! Of course maybe often times there's simply nothing to compliment.....!
If admin enabled the reputation +/- feature in vbullletin, it'd be better than an external thank you hack.
Edit: I'll regret this when I have reputation -50.

It only really works in certain threads. If somebody helps fix a glitch on a poster's PC or gives them a great website for hotels (or whatever, you know where I'm going) the reputation thing is great.
In the football areas it'll just end up with mates bumping each other's ratings and the political threads will be a joke with the nazis and commies agreeing/disagreeing with everything
One board I'm involved with doesn't allow negative feedback as it was being abused.

I've moderated a forum which used reputation. It was heavily abused. Aside from mates repping eachother for damn near every post, it was used to pick on people for little or no reason. The comments attached to reputation were anonymous (though I think you can change that), and were often used abusively. We had to look up who posted what after specific complaints and wound up banning a number of people. It's not a system I'd advise using. Not worth the hassle.
I saw it used and abused on Boards.ie. I've no intention of enabling it here.
Just thought I'd bump this.
They got this on boards ages ago and I think it's pretty useful. I think we should have it on here.
Yeah, I find it very useful over on Irish League Supporters Forums.
I like the feature on boards , but I don't know why ye describe it as "useful" , What are it's uses?
