    City Strikeforce?

i'm of the opinion Mulligan and O'flynn would longterm be our best partnership, with morley sprung from the bench when needed.

Hartigan is not the answer surely?

Maybe Welch could also get an occasional run

What about Tynan. burst onto the scene last season and promised much.

Surely he'll be pushing for a place

    Tynan Isn't Up To Scratch...

...I've said this a number of times. Tynan always came on with 10/15 mins left and made a few good runs and crossed a few balls. He doesn't seem to have a full 90 mins in him. Lets face it a player who's getting introduced as a sub isn't being overlooked by the manager but isn't impressing him enough to break into the first team. I hear people calling for Johnny C and Co to be dropped but I'd keep him right where he is until we have players who can do better. Colin O'Brien isn't worth much now either.
    Tynan needs more time.

    Surprise them...

...play three up front: Mulligan & O'Flynn, Morley just behind.

It would be a good test to see what O'Flynn has to offer, and Bohs will be a bit disrupted at the back with Maher having joined Luton. Morley may benefit from a slightly deeper role, instead of leading the frontline - he can still lay it around well and slip a through ball in a tight spot. In fact, he's one of the better passers in the team IMO, something he never gets credit for...

Pressure the other team for a change. We should have done it to the Latvians but allowed them too much space and possession and they nicked it. A limited team, yet they were largely untroubled by City at the X. I say make it a fortress again and let's do that by attacking teams.

.... I did! But, strangely enough, everybody involved with the club is completely illiterate so I got landed with doing the programme instead
As soon as I can persuade some sucker to do the editing, I'll be on the bench - mark my words. Watch City play then, boy!

...I was any good at it; the secret is to bluff by using cool and imaginative article headings such as:
    Manager's Notes
    Chairman's Notes
    City News
    Club Shop etc

Immediately they (the illiterate ones) think you've worked for Shoot! or L'Équipe and it's a doddle after that.
Still, if anyone's up for it then I'll get the old boots out of the attic and get the lads to do a few more laps.

No relegation worries with me in charge!

Thumbs down Re: Tynan Isn't Up To Scratch...

I think Tynan was pretty impressive any time I saw him. He was well capable of passing players and setting up goal chances and definetely brought a Buzz to the cross. He was over in Leciester a few times and maybe a few other English clubs and is currently lining out with the Irish Colleges team in America. What do the other managers see in him that Murphy cant. He wont give him a chance to gain experience. Its a pity as no doubht he has an abundence of skill exactly what City need and are definetely lacking at the moment. Getting back to the horrible decision of letting David Moore go , Its a travisty he let a fine player like that depart , again a good pacey skillful player, it just dosnt make sense. While we have the likes of Hartigan( Crap) and Caulfield(too Old) up front, and Morley(Too slow, has seen his day)

Aslo i Think O Brien is a good player but Murphy has maybe been his downfall, probarly lacking in confidence and getting no support from the manager. No doubht Murphy and Freyne , from what i hear have to be the most in-sensitive and least tactful managerial partnership in the country .

If Hartigan starts on Sunday I'd be tempted to leave the ground.

I share your frustration Cityx for City's lack of emphasis on skill, opting instead for tough players.

Did it strike anybody as strange that Damian Delaney, who had played in midfield as a schoolboy, was only used by City at left back, at a time when we were seriously lacking a touch of skill in midfield? Yet just a couple of months later the same Damian is playing in centre midfield against Roy Keane and Man United in the premiership!!!

After being dumped by City it surely a sign that David Moore will go on to be a great player somewhere else too!!

    Red face Oldies

The way people go on i'd swear ye want Deccie, Skippy & Johnny C removed from the squad? Who will replace them? All 3 will be valuable players this season with their experience. None of the 3 started last week & look what happned!

So we sack all 3 & the management team...then what?

Colin O'Brien hasn't become a bad player overnihgt - he was useless last year too!
Steven O'Flynn did not play well last week so don't set him up to be the saviour of the team. He looked off the pace of the game & a bit bewildered. It was his first league game & got terrible service but deserves a run in the team to see how he goes...

It was only the first game of the season. We are a fickle lot & these calls of sackings are a bit premature.
