who took the corner when vidic scored against everton, and ronaldo against blackburn? forgetting his goals against middlesbrough and totteham aswell? im not saying he has re-paid his transfer fee yet, but it'd be nearly impossible for him to have done, he's only started about 2 games in the last 6 weeks!
1 in 10 corners beat the front man. Not good enough for Accrington Stanley never mind Man Utd. For a club like Man Utd at least 8 out of 10 have to beat the front man.
    LESS OF THE BULL NOW!

My pet hate in modern football is how many times pros on gazillions of pounds a week cannot beat the first man when taking corners. This is despite a much lighter ball.Maybe its nostalgia on my part but I can't remember players failing at this simple task when I watched footy in the eighties as a kid.
While playing for the gunners the amount of times Henry hit insipid corners onto the chest of the first defender was as David Coleman use to say....quite extroadinary(do his voice in your head!).
This phenomenom deseves a thread of its own but I not getting invovled because it drives me nuts.

I agree with you. Maybe the tactics are often to play for a flick on off the first man or something? Regardless, some of deliveries in the Rangers match tonight for example were shameful for all those individuals, and their extended families, involved.

Its about time that Italian clubs were banned from european football and told to clean up their act. Every single club that visits Italy is experiencing this sort of nonsense. Even in the dark days of the early 80's knifes were not used in GB.

The night before Liverpool players were pelted with missiles from the Marseille fans from all sections in the ground.

If either of these incidents above happened in England every supporter of English football would be vilified and the clubs would probably be fined and banned.

As far as I can see, English club fans are now amongst the better behaved fans in Europe as a result of anti-hooligan measures. Its about time the Italians/Dutch/French/Turks did the same.

Of course Liverpool fans are still the worst, aren't they Michel!!

Just as an aside, what would happen if Marseille played Roma? Do these incidents with spaniards/french/italians ever not involve an english club? if not, is there some linking factor we can identify?

    All hooligans are cowards.

It just seems the English ones match this with a large dose of stupidity

you'd wonder was this the ''red devils'' firm or just regular fans?
    You might.

I'd say the vast majority of people couldn't give a ****

Well it depends on what way you look at it. As a result of Heysel we cleaned up our act and we are now recognised as one of the best behaved groups of fans in europe and the particularily the UK nowadays.

We have links built with clubs throughout europe and travel to the likes of Turkey, Greece, Holland (which are hotbeds of hooliganism nowadays) with absolutely no issues. Of course, these type of things are not reported in the media because people only want to know about negatives.

Fighting at away games was part of the event in the 80's, thankfully that has changed now.

Oh course, no Italians rioted at Heysel!!

That says everything about your level of knowledge of european club football from a travelling fans point of view. You obviously dont get to football matches on the continent that much.

So no trouble at all then in Athens? Those videos made up? How much trouble have Italian fans had in Turkey, Greece or Holland. I'll bet you anythign you like it was less than Liverpool fans

From what I've heard it was almost completely UEFA's fault. Bad stadium to play it in - no turnstiles FFS - and the police seemed to be looking for trouble. Admittedly there were a few Liverpool fans causing trouble, but a very, very small minority.

Its always a very small minority. The fans that fought in Rome last night were a small minority. Unfortunately, a small minority is enough.

While it's obvious that Italian football has its hooligan problems, I've been to a good few games in Italy and have never seen trouble, then again I've never been when an English club was in town, so maybe that's it.

Laughable. And there 1000s of Italians stabbing utd fans last night? And it wasn't UEFA that had roaming gangs robbing tickets off their fellow scousers

But there were no incidents of stabbing in Athens. Although it can be a very fine line. Whilst robbing a ticket is obviously totally and utterly wrong, it can't end someone's life. I'm not condoning the actions from some of the Liverpool fans, but UEFA didn't help by giving **** all tickets to both sets of supporters and giving loads to dignitaries, etc. 17,000 tickets were given to each set of fans.

Gangs werent roaming trying to rob ticket. It was little idiots who were near the ticket check points. When a genuine fan took out their ticket to go into the game they snatched it from them.

Dont get we wrong, I am as disgusted by this as anyone is. Shame is this type of nonsense still goes on. At the Porto game one idiot was trying to barge through the turnstile behind his mate who had a ticket. He was dragged out by other fans and handed to the police thankfully.

Milan and Liverpool fans have a good relationship, there was never any problems between us. Roma hate us after winning the EC on their patch.

Italian football has a serious problem with hooliganism, derived from the ultras scene.
english football gave birth to holliganism ,the mother of which was liverpool scallies robbing sports gear all over italy when they had a team in the 70's & 80's.
whether it be italy,spain,france,wherever..... the locals only see english football fans as the torchbearers of hollie behavious so every juan, allesandro & michele wants their go at the english.

oh and the point about roma being ****ed off at liverpool for winning the EC in 82/83? is true. they bear a serious grudge about that. i've been to enough roma games to feel their ire for revenge

next season the chapms league final is in the decrepit stadio olympico and roma want to be there againsy liverpool to avenge the defeat
Shamrock Rovers- Where trophies are won and envy is scarce
