COOKE LOOKING TO ADD TO SQUAD
Monaghan United Manager Mick Cooke has returned from a well deserved week long break and will be speaking with more players this week as he seeks to strengthen his squad further. Cooke has so far secured the signatures of 2 new players Alan Mulcahy and Brendan Kennedy and has tied the bulk of last year’s squad into new contracts.

At present Monaghan United have a confirmed squad of Danny Woods, Brendan Kennedy, Paul Whelan, Aaron Mooney, Luke Fitzpatrick, Kevin Williamson, Dom Tierney, Alan Mulcahy, Darren Meenan and Wayne Byrne. Cooke aims to tie some further signings down during the week and has returned from his holidays rejuvenated and ready to ensure that United have the strongest squad possible for the upcoming season.

McCAREY MAKES MOST OF OPPORTUNITIES
Monaghan United’s talented young Goalkeeper Aaron McCarey is making the most of the opportunities that have been presenting themselves. Times have been hectic for Aaron over the past 2 weeks with playing for the Republic of Ireland Under 16’s in Paris last week and this week he is spending time at Aston Villa.

“Paris was a great experience for me and I am looking forward to spending time at Villa” Aaron said on Saturday. “I’m still not sure where I would like to sign in the New Year but I am glad to have the opportunity to choose.”

Aaron is a very gifted and focused young man who has the right attitude and buckets of determination and will be an asset to which ever club is lucky enough to get his signature when he turns 16 in January.
