    Sorry CTID but you've misread.

I wasn't talking about the Rovers V Brazil game.

Was it a charity game in aid of UNICEF or something when an Ireland XI played an Argentina XI. Don't think it was a full international, but think it might have been Giles last ever game in green? Ended 0-0?

No, it was an official Republic of Ireland international side, not full international, and had nothing to do with Giles but Dunphy was the manager.

He almost tore the head off me one night when I reminded him of his brief managerial career and tried to tell me I was too young to be at the game.

I'm guessing here but there was an international played against the Basque Country in 1979. Was Dunphy the manager of that team?

The Irl v Arg game has been ruled out
It was not a game involving the senior players. It has to be an underage international, one that Dunphy stood in for because of illness to the real manager?

That was my first Ireland game! Chris Hughton's debut I reckon.

Giles was manager back then AFAIK, I was only a snapper back then mind you.

Very hot, datewise, but a.a.d., you won't last long as a sub if you don't pick out the relevant points in the previous posts.

    Thats Harsh,

I'm doing alright at the minute (have to work on the Reading v Liverpool game tomorrow)

I'm lost as to which game it was then.

We lost 4-1 in August 1979 to a Basque XI. No idea who the manager was.
