It looks like Daglish wants to be offered the job. No interviews for Kenny and on that point I agree with him. The 3-man thing has been a shambles.
    http://www.examiner.ie/irishexaminer...817-qqqx=1.asp

'KENNY DALGLISH has indicated to close friends that he is ready to accept the Ireland manager’s job, subject to an official approach from the FAI'. ....
'is believed to have been nominated as a potential candidate by Ray Houghton'. Houghton .....'is likely to be charged with the task of sounding out the 56-year-old in the coming days.'

I suppose it does read that he is ready to accept the job and that the only contact will be through Houghton and Houghton reports back to the the other 2. Then the 3 of them will mull over it.

He is royalty after all, you can't expect him to apply for a job.

Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of them being headhunters?

If they just expect people to contact them could we not just give them an office, a phone line and call them glorified secretaries?

Read the other posts, the Newstalk report sounds like shíte
It's widely rumoured that Houghton has already contacted Dalglish.

dalglish talked to his mate houghton on the phone.

does anybody here seriously want Kenny? Other than deluded Liverpool fans I cannot see his appointment being popular amongst us fans - the 3 man panel nor the FAI wouldn't try and ram this third rate appointment down our throats after the WORLD CLASS Staunton fiasco? Surely not? Maybe it's just a ploy to make El Tel look fantastic.

What are the other options right now?

El Tel-just had a disaster with England.
    Brady-failure at Celtic.
O Leary- didn't want it last time, has serious attitude problem
    Kendall- !!!????

    Is their anyone else?

Dalgleish has been out of the game for quite a while but he had a brilliant record with Liverpool, won the league with Blackburn and wasn't so bad with Newcastle.
He's achieved practically everything you can as a club player and was one of the greatest players in Europe when he played.
Surely he could improve players like McGeady, Keane, Duff etc.

He's definetly not the perfect answer but right now he's the best of a bad bunch. And he's a massive improvement on the last two managers(which wouldn't be hard really!)

DotTV, you say Brady was a failure at Celtic and you say Dalglish has achieved practically everything you can as a club player and was one of the greatest players in Europe when he played, and could improve players like McGeady, Keane, Duff etc.

You could interchange Brady for Dalglish and vice versa and it' d hold true!.

I know Brady's record at Celtic was poor and his transfer record was pretty dodgy, but there were clear signs they were a well-coached team. There were few such signs there under Dalglish's tenure, either as Barnes' mentor or as caretaker.

Dalglish strikes me as a nasty character, a chancer who's always looking for an easy way of making money and whose work ethic is highly questionable, as is his man-management. Stan was slated for his media skills. All he was trying to do was mimic Dalglish. If we appoint Dalglish we won't have heard the last of the phrase "you tell me".

In fairness Brady was always on to a loser when he was at Celtic.Celtic were skint while Rangers were spending money like it was going out of fashion. Granted Brady made some mistakes in the transfer market but the Celtic job was a poisoned chalice at the time.

Sure, Brady and Dalglish would be comparable on playing skills but it's different re management. Dalglish achieved a lot with Liverpool.
Agreed his a dodgu character,I have a few stories about him.

I definetly would prefer Jol or Houllier but are they realistic targets? Will they come here?

I thought you meant in the North DUblin nacker/west of Ireland bogger of "id take him anyday " i.e. fighting talk.

So I just wanted to highlight to the others my suspicions ( assuming you meant it in the other way ) about you

George Best many moons ago described Daglish as a complete ****. Daglish was taking the **** out of either fans or ballboys in a bad way when warming up for a game in which Best was playing in.

Dalglish could get his daughter Kelly to give the players a rub down as a win bonus!
Performances might starting improving with that incentive.
