Haha, hadn't seen that. I heard it on the football365 forums. It's possibly an urban myth, though it's so good I hope it's not. If I get Southend into the playoff final this season I might wear a suit. And play the match in real time rather than the fastest possible setting so I can enjoy (hopefully) every minute.

Started as Fingal, finished second in the 1st division twice and got promoted in the second season. First season in the premier was mediocre. Comfortably avoided relegation thanks to some crafty loan deals (ben hutchinson of celtic scored 10 in 10 on a 3 month loan). Mid way through the season i signed Ben Burgess and Caleb Folan on free deals and Fingal became a Celtic feeder club out of the blue giving me a few more sneaky loan opportunities.

Best part of the season was the cup run which ended up with Fingal in the final against bohs (fierce local rivals Malahide forcing a replay against us on the way ) Lost in the final replay 3-2 after extra time (ben burgess missed a one on one in second half injury time to win the cup ) . Bohs had come back from two down in the first match and we had come back from two down in the second match.A thrilling advert for Irish football

    Dunne
    Roberto Carlos
    Richie Partridge*
    Ronaldinho
    Rivaldo
    Ze-Roberto
    Jose Miguel Lobo**
    Glen Crowe

**signed him from some Portuguese 2nd div outfit and he became my top scorer 3 seasons running
    * signed for little or nothing from Liverpool and he was my best player and captain for 5 or six seasons, he fecked off to Austria Vienna on a minimum fee release clause (12.5M) three day's before the Champions League Final

    subs
    Crespo
    Zidane
    Beckham
    Gerrard
    Owen
    Forlan
    Carragher

the thing that got my goat was that even when we were Champions of europe we were still playing in front of 3,500 at Dalymount despite the fact that Dalymount has a seated capacity of 8,000 in the game

Definitely not an urban myth in that I remember the original thread (on the SI forums) in which the guy made the revelation. Everyone was sharing their FM-related idiosyncrasies so he presumably felt safe in owning up. Needless to say, he had the p1ss ripped out of him mercilessly.

Another story I heard was a guy who got his little brother to pretend he was a player in his squad and give him a manager talk , the brother then had to walk out of the room and back in as every member of the squad

Yeah. He should have got his brother to bring his mates over.
That question was less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.

Help me, Arthur Murphy, you're my only hope!

I'm also a Kettering man. And indeed tonight I have Northampton at home in the last game of the season to seal the last automatixc promotion spot up to League 1. I won the BSN first time round but needed two seasons to join the football league (lost on penalties to Halifax in the playoff semis the first season and won it the following year). I am actually more nervous than I have ever been about a game.

They have definitely fiddled. And probably replayed games a lot too. They will never admit to it.

It was 01/02 I'm almost sure. The same version in which your dirty Benfica choppers ended the career of some random Brazilian I had floating around at Sporting Lisbon.

That is still my personal highlight of those glory days, in fact I think it's my most cherished memory of all my football manager games

I don't own a suit for the real world let alone this far more important one! On as aside both my first choice strikers got injured in the run up and I lost...

So are you in the playoffs then? I remember in the bad old days (I'm sure it's changed now) there was a bug whereby your players would be in holiday mode when the play-offs came round and their condition would drop to about 65% I'm still bitter that it stopped my Stockport team reaching the Premiership at the first attempt. Damn that was a great team.

I recovered to beat Notts County in the semis only to collapse quite spectacularly in the final against bloody Peterborough. Jordan Rose will be beaten once he returns to training after a particularly wretched display.

I once punished my goalkeeper for an abject performance by transfer listing him, putting him in the reserves and giving him a training schedule which consisted entirely of cross country runs, all day every day. He eventually got the message and joined St. James's Gate on a free transfer.

That is tough love indeed. I was just gonna pee in Jordan's shoes or some such.

Anyone ever come across in the new footie manager a report saying that one player in your team is apparently "carrying" the team at times and should be allowed to move to a higher league to try his luck.

It just happened me with MK Dons, the January transfer window just opened and thats stirred alot of aggro with this player, making him unsettled/considering his options and all that.

As it happens he pretty much is,40 goals in 27 games, with 13 MOTM's so far in all competitions. Its Frazer Campbell who I got for 40k off Man United..
